Dorsey Thornton & Associates (a.k.a. DTA Investigations) - They are scammers.  They make claims that you owe for online payday loans that were never taken out, threaten to have you arrested for check fraud, and so on.  They have an 'F' rating with the BBB, and are not licensed in most states to collect on debts.

If you have ever applied for an online payday loan, regardless of whether you took one out or not, chances are that your personal details (e.g., name, address, SSN, drivers license #, place of employment, references, etc.) have been sold to numerous scam artists who will try to scare you into paying on made-up debts.

Got a call from same phone #, it's a scam!

Keep getting calls from these jerks.  I filed bankruptcy in '09 so they are probably trying to collect.

i got that call as well .... telling me if ,me or my lawyer needed to call back in 24 hours .saying im being invesgated for check fraud

Just got their call.  Is there something we can do to get them to quit calling or is it pointless.

just got a call from them they are trying to come after me for some type of fraud. You would  think that if it was real they would have more thean a answering machine for that #.

called and left message to call said they were an investigator for check fraud, so i thot oh no and called back, and the guy told me his name,but refused to repeat it.and said we had a payday loan from 3-4 yrs ago and had to pay it now.so i asked how much and he said we owed 1600.00, i thot we did do a payday loan online,but it was only for $200.00.so i asked what they were charging $1400 for interest? his reply was "uhh yeah interest ok", so i asked whats the lowest they wud take he said "ohh i'll go down to $1200, and we cud pay with debit right now,i said no,dont have the $,so he said go get it..then i asked the name of the company and account # and he wouldnt give it to me..
they called again and left message for me or my lawyer to call within 24 hrs..
ive done my research with this company and they aren't gettin a dime from us..
and they are debt collectors NOT investigators!!!

Received a call  from 404-935-9490 stating that we were involved in a criminal investigation and for us or our lawyer to call back within 24 hours. This was very upsetting as our 87 year old Mother lives with us and if she had received the call she would have been scared to death. They mention a connection to taking out a loan against a coming pay check, which we have never done. It is possible that one of our relatives did as he occasionally gives our number when he doesn't want to be tracked.

I just received this call as well, saying there was a criminal investigation, or something about a tech charge? I recently did fill out an online pay day loan application- from the Money Mutual (Montel Williams) website. I bet that is where they are getting this information. Has anyone recently done the same thing? I have had some payday loans in the past, but nothing in the last 5 years, so I bet it is from the online. Does anyone know how to get them to stop?

They called us in boise id and said we were being investigated for check fraud, and we needed to have our attorney or us contact them asap @ 404-935-9490

Needless to say, we are not criminals and these [***] are just fishing for a sucker to bite on their bag of tricks. Well it won't be us. I will report them to the police department if they call again.

Got the call today...had my phone company block their number. Thanks for the heads up!

Left voice mail, to press 1 to connect.  If you are leaving a voicemail, how can someone on the other end press any digit to connect anywhere.....it's a frigging voicemail.. I saved message, don't know why.  They are idiots.  All the high technology in the world, and we cannot stop stupid phone calls from fraudulent numbers and scammers.  Unreal.

Yea these people are crooks. I filed Ch. 7 in "08" and they are trying to collect as a third party. F them. Dont be affraid of DTA. I told my lawyer about them calling us and threating us of fraud check writing and our lawyers know who and what they are. I filed a complaint through the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and I think every one eles should do the same thing. Lets put this company DTA out of business for trying to come after us who are already weak from filing Bankruptcy.

This caller keeps calling me about check fraud. I don't even write checks so how can I commit fraud. However i keep missing their call so I don't know anymore then that.  They don't even say my name when leaving a message.

Just got a call from that number. Said  to call back within 24 hours from me or my attorney. So I hit redial from my cid and I got a message saying that They were trying to reach someone on Goggle Voice I left a message and within five minutes this guy calls back and has no idea who I am and How I called his goggle voice number. They original message was for supposed check fraud which I have never heard from my bank. I would assume that check fraud would be handled by the police and not someone private.

called said i was being investigated for loan fraud never heard of the person on the loan but he did have some of my information and i did take out a loan but filed bankruptcy in 2010
