- LindseyCalled my cell phone. When I picked up the call a man was speaking. I caught something about "a crowbar and a butcher's knife." I said hello. Then the call was ended. Freaky!
- Kimberly| 1 replyReceived a call on a SUNDAY at 7 pm....a little odd. The woman on the other line said she was calling from the College of Arts and Science from Oklahoma State University (my alma mater). She asked for updated information (address, phone number, etc) but things got weird when she started asking about my employment so I hung up the phone, thinking it might be a scam.
Googled the number and it links it to the OSU Foundation. - JenThis number keeps calling and hanging up once I answer. Quit it!
- JohnIs was people saying they were from OSU and wanted my credit card in order to have me make a donation.....
- Caller: OSU?
- Call type: Telemarketer
- JBIt is the Oklahoma State Alumni Foundation. It's annoying. MONEY MONEY MONEY. That's all they want.
I have told them in the past to never contact me again. OSU is my alma mater as well.- Caller: Oklahoma State University Alunmi Foundataion
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- jd| 2 repliesI'm not an OSU alum; what do they want from me? This is a scam...
- Caller: ?
- StephanieIt is the OSU alumni association. It's my alma mater and I actually made these calls as an employee there when I was a student. It's not a scam but I'm still not answering the phone. : / Sorry!!
- SuzanneThis is weird... I had a voicemail from them too ... it was just a girl laughing and then hung up like she didn't mean to call. Almost like a pocket dial. After reading all these posts I think it was just a girl working for the alumni association that is trying to do her job while on the go and ending up leaving all kinds of weird connections with people. It's not that strange if you go back to the campus. I graduated 10 years ago and I didn't even recognize the place. Honestly I think they're growing a bit too fast. It seems like all they want is money, but just like the strange message I got, you have to remember there are real people working there. Working hard, making phone calls, hopefully trying to do good work with your money. But I agree with you all it does seem very strange. That's not the OSU I went to, not even close. Hopefully they still have the same heart as they did when we were there! :)
- Casey| 3 repliesIt's perfectly normal for a university to do a telethon campaign. They desperately need scholarship money and other funds to do great programming. Glad to know that is the call I missed tonight. If you have a good job because of your degree (and I do), we should feel obligated to give to future students and programs!
- Caller: OSU
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- No thank you, OSU! replies to KimberlyThank you for the information. That's what I was thinking....they want money.
- StillwaterResident| 1 replyI do not think it is OSU. They have their own trunk line, which is always 744, not 385. 385 is a cell number. Something is very wrong here. And if it were the Alumni Assoc. why do they NEVER leave a msg? No. It has to be a scam.
I will be checking with the real OSU Alumni and letting them know about this, and if it IS them, I will let them know I am going to report them for telemarketing to numbers on the DNC list. - Rachel HowardThis number keeps calling me and when I called OSU OKC, where I attended, they stated that it was not affiliated with them. The people at this number say they are from alumni and wanted to get my address so they "could keep up to date" I refused to give them any information and called OSU OKC to see if they needed my information updated, of which they stated they would never call and ask for personal information and thank you for reporting this...
- Caller: OSU alumni
- One-Who-Works replies to Casey| 2 repliesUnsolicited is just that - unwanted. The alumni association has the idea that graduates "owe" the University something. Faulty logic. I paid for the courses I took. I paid for the meals I ate. And, I paid for the room I slept in. Those contracts were paid in full. This country has a large population of delusional people who believe that other people's money is somehow theirs. Wrong. You're not the government. Stop being a taker. Work for your money and stop begging for it.
- jbs replies to One-Who-Works| 1 replyYou do know that your tuition at OSU wasn't 100% funded by your payments, right? A significant portion was funded through the Foundation as well as via state (read: tax dollar) support. Don't be such a schmuck and an embarrassment to our university.
- maskedrider replies to jbsSo my scholarship didn't pay my tuition it went to the Alumni Assoc? I hope not since the scholarship was from a private entity.
- Pistol PeteYou guys are grumps. I just donated $500. Go pokes!
- Ted replies to jd| 1 replyIt is not a scam. It is the Alumni Association trying to raise donations. That's all.
- Ted replies to StillwaterResidentSimply put their phone number into your search engine and see what pops up. I did and it was identified as the Alumni Association.
- SuperDaveThis # has called me twice now, claiming that my name was pre-selected to invest in mineral rights in OK.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- j johnson405-385-5125 keeps calling me three to four times a day. Stop It! I have picked up twice to tell them to stop harassing me with their unwanted phone calls and only get hang-ups from them. Is this some sort of scam?
