- Jim| 1 replyThe name "Warranty Center" appears on my caller ID when they call me. The number is from North Dakota and sometimes from Montana. They are a debt consolidation service. They call me several times a day, and day after day. I am NOT in debt and I do not need their service. I have told them repeatedly to stop calling me, but as soon as I say to stop calling they hang up on me. Then they will call back in an hour or two and start all over again. I just got out of the hospital after having cancer surgery, and I would like to be left alone so I can rest and recover. I can't turn-off the phone because it might be my doctor or the hospital calling. So the phone ringing wakes me up and then I have to tell them to stop and then get all upset. I need my rest and need to recover from my cancer. The people from these phone calls should be arrested and put in prison. They are a nuisance to society and should serve time in prison. I know that is an extreme statemtent but they must understand that people want to be left alone.

- Jim replies to JimI live in New York state and so called the State Attorney General's office to report these calls and to put a stop to them. They took a complaint but also gave me the web address for the Montana Dept of Justice and their phone number. I called them and they said the companies making these scam calls are from California and have phone equipment to scramble where the phone call is actually being made from. The Montana DOJ then gave me a phone number for the FTC to call and file a complaint. Their number is 877-382-4357. I filed a complaint with them. The woman said the best thing to do is NOT TO ANSWER THESE CALLS no matter how annoying they may be. It is hard to find them to prosecute and there is not much more you can do. These scams call you no matter how good or bad your credit is. My credit rating is 810 and I have no debt to speak off. They call you from some phone list they got, and you just have to hope they get tired of calling you. This happened to me several months ago and it lasted for two months. It stopped but now has started up again. I would like to have them all arrested, put in jail, and throw away the key. They are the scum of the earth and should wind up in hell

- JamesI've been unemployed since 8/30/10. lost my job because of my Bipolar disorder. Just started to get these calls from some debt collectors.I have repeatedly told them not to call my cell. They have ignored me. Now they call until the phone is answered and hang up. Then call the land line qand do the same thing. AT&T locally passes the buck to my wireless company who passes it back to AT&T. In the meantime until someone can take responsiblity for the lines used I have used the following extended greeting to my home and cell phones...it goes like this " Hello, and thank you for calling a geriatric bipolar diabetic with a sleep disorder. We can come to the phone right now because I'm arguing with myself over something stupid. But leave your name, number ,and a brief message and depending on who wins the argument, one of us will get back to you. And again thank you for calling a geriatric bipolar diabetic with a sleep disorder." You may use this at your descretion.
