For three days in a row I have received a call from this number. I finally called it back and it stated that it was customer service and that if I wish to remove my number from the call list, to enter my number. Then after, it said that it would remove my number in the next 2 business days.

4 calls in the last 3 days.  Last two calls leave a voice message stating this is a service verification and we will call back.  It is best to ignore the calls - when you call the number you have now indicated that the number they are calling is a real phone number and they will pass the number on to other scammers.  If someone would like to verify my business - they can mail me a letter AND stop the harassing phone calls  Why keep your identity secret be proud of who you are and state your business when leaving a message.  I believe there is a law that they must not call after three attempts.  Did not appreciate the 9am phone call on a Saturday morning.

1/11/11 5pm - calling again using a new number.  They continue to call daily for the past 8 days sometimes twice in one day.  I have reported ALL numbers and intend to file a formal harassment complaint.  I will NEVER answer a call from an unknown caller hence the reason why I pay to have caller ID.  406.540.1229 calling and no message.

I've been getting calls, about seven (and counting), from this number for about three to four days. They tell me that they'll call back, and they often do, sometimes under a different number. I'm not sure why they call, but if anyone can figure out how to stop it, please tell. It's awfully annoying to receive three calls during school hours.

I got a call today from 406 540 1229. They said they were calling from the Union Leader newspaper to see if I got my paper. I questioned her and she said it is computer generated and apologized.This is why we can't call it back. Time will tell to see what happens.

I've received about 5 calls from this number in the past few days.  They just say they will call back.  It doesn't even make sense.

Receive about 2-3 calls a day from this number.  Stating they are from the Star Tribune paper in Minneapolis asking if we received our paper.  Also asked if we've made payment and then asked for our credit card. Obviously refused to provide this information.

I received a call tonight and when calling back was asked to verify my number so they can put it on their do not call list.  We'll see if this happens.  We've just had two days of spam type calls to my husband's cellphone, and finally had the number changed.  What is going on?  How do they get our numbers?

Got a call from this number last night asking if I had received my new newspaper subscription. Then they said that I could go ahead and make payment by giving them my credit card number !  Obviously a scam.

Received a phonecall around 5:30 PM from this number, claiming to be from the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The caller wanted to offer us the E-edition of the paper for $4.95 per month. Funny thing is that as a Star Tribune subscriber, the paper already has an online function that allows for verification of hard-copy subscription information *for free* in order to view their E-edition articles *free* to subscribers. I'm pretty certain the call is a scam.

This country is going down fast, I signed up for the "DO NO'T CALL REGISTRY" a couple of years ago, you can see it works. Be careful for what you wish for our Goverment will do for you. I got a call from that number today(406-540-1229), so Mr. President what the hell are you going to do about these calls to people who signed up to that Goverment sponsored registry.  "GOD BLESS AMERICA" because our Goverment won't.

Well, I just ordered star tribune from groupon a few weeks ago and the voicemail mentioned star tribune so it's probably them dialing the wrong numbers or getting the wrong numbers from someone else. Still a little weird they'd call, though.

For the last 2 weeks our business has been getting calls from 406-540-1229 and 866-336-2559.  Different women call and say they are calling from the 411 Verification Department.  They just need to ask some questions and verify some information- but they want your name and will record the conversation.  I've told every caller that I do not verify information by phone.  Yesterday I told her to give me a number where I can call her back and verify her identity.  She became defiant and asked if I was calling her a liar..."thats defammation"...I just hung up.  I must have had 10 calls yesterday.  So far this morning I've had 2.  Verizon phone told me they can't do anything unless I file a police report.

I subscribed to the local newspaper last month, and I just got a call from 406-540-1229, they wanted to know if I was happy w/the service and paper..

I just subscribed to local newspaper a week or so ago and now I am getting calls from this number which is out of Missoula, MT (I am in TX).  I have not answered the calls but I am thinking this must be a company that is affiliated with newspaper subscription services since most of the calls seem to be related to newspaper subscriptions.  I'm just wondering how many times they will call before they finally quit calling me.  They are not leaving messages!

I receive 4 to 5 calls a day from this number as well as another number. I answered once but it was background noise. It is irritating.

I just got a call from 406-540-1229.  A very polite man was asking about what kind of phone books we have in our home and which one we prefer.  He was lucky that I was kind and patient, as I usually am not with phone calls like this.  It was a harmless phone call and not overly annoying.

This number called and left a message that they would call back later.  "Verification" came up on Caller ID.
