I just got called from this number claiming a lawsuit was filed against me for collection account and unless I got a net spend voucher to payoff debt of $325.16 today I was going to be arrested at my job tomorrow. And said they could not provide me proof after the debt and unless I paid above amount I would be spending 30 days in jail and then end up spending over $8000 with legal fees. Who in the check are these people I will be changing banks.

Totally illegal call. You cannot be arrested for debts and by law they have to provide proof of debt in writing.

See these two articles from the FTC's website on debts:

    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0117-time-barred-debts

You should also file complaints with the FTC and your State Attorney General.

This number keeps calling my employer. They are making false statements to get personal information. BEWARE! Each time they call my employer they provide a different name and phone number. All have been traced to a scam. The numbers are (916) 469-7012, (334) 246-7012 , and (406) 559-2491.  I notified the Federal Trade Commission and my County District Attorney's Office.

I received a call from this number too.  The message was almost unintelligible, but I gleaned the name "Adam Peterson" out of it.  No company name or anything like that.  My husband loves to challenge these people, so he called(posing as Micheal to see what they would do).  They claimed I owed money to " American Cash" and that if I didn't pay there were going to be charges filed and I was going to be arrested. LOL  He began asking for specifics of this supposed debt and the woman got very irate with him. When he asked her name and what company she was with she said "Harper & Johnson Law firm" and refused to give her name. He shouted back at her that this was a scam call and the debt was bogus. She immediately hung up.  When he tried to call back, it was a busy signal. Guess they blocked our number!  I googled this supposed law firm in Montana, where the area code originates, and surprise, surprise. none exists.   Totally bogus!!

Some person named Daniel just called my home number several times,  my husband answered.  The man threatened to get the police involved and swore at my husband when my husband told him to go ahead as we hadn't done anything wrong.  He then hung up and tried my cell phone another three times before leaving me a voicemail threatening me.  Total scam

I received a call from some foreign speaking man named "Adam Peterson" from Harper and Johnson Legal Services. I told him to call my cell phone and not my job phone and I hung up. He proceeded to call my cell and leave a message that there was a claim against me and that me or my attorney off records needs to call me that this was time sensitive. Then he calls back again and stated he didn't appreciate that I abruptly hung up the phone and what I did was intentional and that I'm a suspect in a case and that me or my attorney needs to call him before he proceeds with legal proceedings. I reported his name and company name and number to FTC...

received a called from and officer "JOHN SMITH" from attorney generals office? Could hardly understand him but said I have a lawsuit filed against my name and ss#? Also said he sent me a packet in my email and that if my attorney does not contact him immediately that I would be arrested at my job and my home would be taken from me? When I asked him to verify my email address he would not, but he did have my personal info SS# and address and where I worked. When I told him to send the documents to my attorney office he go irate with me so I told him I would be reporting this to FTC and FBI and my local police he hung. Would not tell me where he was from either? I wish they could catch these people so they stop harassing us! I received these kind of calls several times a day from various phone numbers and people so this is the hughest scam and they need to be stopped!!

Make sure you do report him, and in addition since he had all your personal information immediately notify the three credit bureaus to put a fraud watch on your reports.

Also go to the IRS.gov site and fill out the paper work that pertains to you (possibly 14039) to alert them that your SS number has been compromised.  http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/How-Do-You-Rep ... aud-Activity%3F

I just received a call from this guy by the name of "Michael Walker", very heavy accent,  who said that I was going to be arrested at my job, to get a lawyer because I didn't pay a debt.  He also insisted that I transfer him to my office manager.  I told them that I would not and to give me his number and I would have my attorney call him back, he wouldn't do that and he started yelling at me telling me to get my supervisor, when I hung up he called back 5x's in a row.  Then when I didn't answer he started calling from another number.

They left a message saying I was named in an affidavit for bank fraud or something. I called and I was asked "Do you have a lawyer" and the woman tried to be gruff with me. When she could tell I thought it was a scam/joke she got mad and said "you will be arrested tomorrow" and hung up. I called Verizon and had the number blocked. They have no idea how vengeful I will get if I get harassed again.
