- Old School Radara got a call from a female stating she had a complaint come across her desk from another person using me as a reference, and said she was a processor from Nationals (who?). Female sounds really friendly and professional.
- Caller: National
- Mikegot a call from a ed hardwell claiming that he is the final processor and doesn't normally make these type of calls. Also something about them seeing in their file that I have never been in this type of situation and that why they can see that they haven't heard from me come it makes them believe that I don't know anything about it. They also say a county in my state but one that I have never lived in before.plus they don't pronounce it correctly. It make me not trust them enough to answer the phone.
They claim they're from National no more info then that. I've never received anything in the mail concerning them so that is another reason for me to not answer or call back. Some times I know collectors will call family members to try to get info about another family member. I'm thinking this may be the case.
Has anyone really talked with them and figured out who or what type of company they're?- Caller: National (ed hardwell)
- CindyI got a call from them yesterday from Sherri Martinez saying the exact same thing, which makes me believe this is some kind of scam. I forwarded this information to my attorney general and saved the voice mail.
I called the company, and I asked them what the name of their company was. The person answering was VERY reluctant to say, but then said National Processing. I asked their address, and she said she couldn't give it to me. RED FLAG! I asked them what city they're in, and she said she couldn't tell me. RED FLAG! Bottom line, if they are a legitimate business, they would have no problem giving an address or even a city. All she would tell me is that they're in Florida, and she would let me speak to her supervisor.
I would suggest filling a complaint, especially if you're on the do not call list.- Caller: National Processing
- J.A.Just got a call from same number and same situation....asked about "bad Check" writing and said he was only a Processor...was not able to provide any info in writing regarding anything he was calling about.
Gave me a REDICULOUS number amount in "bad Checks" that were written "based on your info" to a company I have never had dealings with -and said he "needed to get a statement from me" regarding the bad checks.
When asked about the Contract he said I agreed to, the amount of the checks, contact info for him or his superior, etc...he kept saying "let me back Up" and would never give a straight-forward answer and refused to provide any pertinent info or copies to prove what he was saying was real/accurate/true or had anything to do with me at all.
Asked repetedly what exactly WAS his job - because he kept saying that is not my job - and he said "to process this info and get a statement for the county" although he would never say what county or what that actually means.
All in all - this sounds like some kind of weird scam....or at the very least a Shady Collection agency using non legal collection practices....
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFO OR AGREE TO ANYTHING IF THEY CANT PROVE WHATEVER THEY STELL YOU IS TRUE!!!!- Caller: National Processing ???

Widespread Harassment from Phony Debt Collectors Raises Concerns of Mass Data Breach
8/3/2009
Scammers have Social Security and bank account numbers, home addresses and employer information
Arlington, VA – August 3, 2009 – Better Business Bureau is issuing a national alert today about phony debt collectors that are calling consumers nationwide and claiming that they have defaulted on a payday loan and will be arrested if they don’t pay immediately. Claiming to be lawyers, the scammers say they are with the “Financial Accountability Association” or the “Federal Legislation of Unsecured Loans” and are equipped with a disconcerting amount of personal information about their potential victims.
“Because the scammers have so much information about potential victims, BBB is concerned that this may be the result of a data breach,” said Steve Cox, BBB spokesperson.
According to reports received by BBB and posted online, the scammers accuse the victim of defaulting on a payday loan and claim they are being sued. The phony debt collector threatens that, if the victim doesn’t pay as much as $1,000 immediately via wire or by providing bank account or credit card numbers, he or she will be arrested and extradited to California within the hour to stand trial. The scammers often have the victim’s Social Security, old bank account numbers or driver’s license numbers as well as home addresses, employer information and even the names of personal friends and professional references.
BBB offers the following advice to consumers if they receive a suspicious telephone call about an outstanding debt:
• Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
• Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
• File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws.
• File a complaint with BBB online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.
According to complaints online, phone numbers that the scammers are calling from include: 949-468-5107, 415-200-0274, 415-200-0274, 213-784-5745, 408-715-1614 and many others.

- Alfalfa replies to meemaw| 1 replyThey are violating FDCPA laws by continuing to call, even though they know you have legal representation. Be sure that your attorney is aware of this and have him/her issue a cease and desist order.
