Hi, not sure a SCAM.  No VM left or caller ID name.

Have called a few times...no VM, No ID...likely my windows machine is sending them virus messages about needing pain meds for my free trip I just won :)

Been calling twice, no one answer.

They've called me three times in the last two days. No message ... from Apopka, Florida.  I am on the DNC list, but it obviously means nothing.

Short educational post, suitable for people with short attention spans:

The DNC list is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls.

The DNC list is intended to help stop calls originating from legitimate telemarketers.
* Your calls were not from legitimate telemarketers.
* Therefore, the DNC list will not stop those calls.

The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate, registered telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities, and companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.  Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and spamming telemarketers!

Remember, the FCC's Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers.   To report spammers and scammers, visit the FTC site, at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

I downloaded the Mr. Number app ... it will block all private or unwanted calls.

Caller from Apopka, FL.  Left no message.  I called back 407-884-7218 and received a recording which says:
"The number you dialed does not exist or has not been allocated".... WTF!
Blocked their number.

I just received a call from this # on my cell phone, which IS on the DO NOT CALL list.  So much for that working.   They are selling medical insurance.

Short answer:
The DNC list does work.

Ok.   Just read that the # you register with DONOTCALL.GOV doesn't take effect for 31 days from registration.  FYI

he called here on Friday 1/30/14 the man talked real fast and said something about health insurance, but did not say the name of company. he started saying the same thing over and over again. when I asked name of company again just started saying the same thing over again. said he represented lots of companies.  I am on the dnc. I doubt he is lisenced in my state b/c he wouldn't give real name of company. I told him I am on dnc and told him what he is.  what I called him we cant write on here.
