- JimReported annoying calls to Marriott Corp. (Called USA reservations 1-888-236-2427 and was patched through to Corp.)
I was offered a $199 - 5 day package but caller never mentioned it was a Time Shares pitch. They were anxious to get the money. Too anxious.
What set me off this evening was another call from Marriott from a lady who wanted to speak to my wife and she said that she had just talked to her last night. What the caller did not know was the wife has not been home for a week!
I hung up and called Corp office. I spoke to "Janis" at Customer Care who could only say that she would "document" the issue. - Marriott Platinum memberGot a call from a "Debra Brown" from 407-903-6100. She provided me with her employee number. When I asked if she could somehow verify that she was in fact with Marriott, she told me she would get a supervisor on the phone to go over my account info as a means of verification. She put me on hold for over 5 minutes, and I hung up the phone. I proceeded to call Marriott's customer service from the number on their web site. I then spoke with a guy named "Angel" who spoke to his supervisor to confirm that "Debra" was in fact legit. I asked him to add a note to my profile to indicate I do not wish to be called in the future. Then he hung up. Another "funny" thing here is that I don't have my house number listed in my Marriott profile, yet somehow they managed to call me on my house phone. I called the Platinum members' line, and spoke to yet another person. When I explained to her what happened, she offered to call the "407" number to check if they were Marriott's marketing department. Turns out the initial call originated from Marriott's corporate office that deals with Marriott's vacation club. It's their version of a timeshare. All in all, it seems to be legit. However, I did request that going forward, I receive these "offers" via email ONLY!

- Not StupidI got this call tonight. They actually called back to try to convince me again they were real. The fact that they want a credit card number over the phone and won't send you any information in the mail is the tipoff. I believe this was fraud. Here's a link to where Marriott lost their reward customers information:

- JOE| 1 replyCaller stated I won Marriott 1000000 sweepstakes prize which is 80% discounted hotel stay, timeshare. I did sign up for sweepstakes. She wanted an immediate commitment of a 199.00 deposit and 100.00 dollar balance to be paid at time of stay. Decided on Grande Vistas Villa property in Orlando. I told her wanted to think about it for a day before making a commitment. She told me, no problem. Will be calling Marriott to see if its legit, before I get call back in 24 hrs.
- Caller: Marriott ?
- Mom of 2I used to get a couple of calls every day from this number. I tried to get them to stop verbily, no good. Then I got my kids shrill whistle and blew it in their ear. Calls slowed down to almost nil. They just started up again and I just pick it up, then hang up, but now I'm up to a couple of call a week. Guess I better get out the whistle again. These morons just don't give up!
- CarlosThis call comes from Marriott Vacation Club. Just call Marriott's corporate office 800-936-6824 and beleive me the calls offering the 85% discount will stop. They even made sure my $199 was refunded to my credit card.
