new my name. hung up on me when I asked what the call was all about

Robo-dialer hung up. I have had numerous problems from unethical telemarketers ignoring the Do not call list. Best thing to do is document, report to FTC, and blow it up all over the internet on sites like these. This call sounds like another fishing expedition to find suckers.

A call from this number with no message left. "Name not found" on the caller ID.
How to stop all these? We were away for four days, at least 7 calls showed up on answering machine and not one was legitimate.

Just got another call from this number.  Since I didn't recognize it as a friend, I let it go to my voice message machine, when they hung up.  I found the prefix 118 to be strange.  I no longer answer unknown numbers, as they are all telemarketers or calls of unknown origin.  JC from San Jose.

Caller ID says "South San Francisco Bay Area" - a dead giveaway that the caller is not a resident thereof.  The caller did not leave a message.  I, too, find the 118 prefix to be strange.  I assume the caller is a spammer and have blocked the number.

I too have been getting calls from this number, each time when I say hello they just hang up, makes no sense to me why they do this

I get a call from this number about once a week or so.  Today I actually answered, usually I let it go to VMX if I don't recognize the number.  So I said hello, somebody said, Mrs. (my last name)?  I said yes, and they hang up.  I mean seriously WTF? They have never left a message either.  I don't have time to report every one of these [***] so I have quit answering my phone pretty much.  

They try to get u to say "yes" so they can record it and sell their product to u by dubbing "yes" into their sales pitch. Then they send stuff w your approval....

NEVER SAY YES! Ask "Who's calling" instead... Or just don't answer!

Got a call from this number; he know my name. I said 'yes", then hang up on me.

Claimed to get my name and phone number from city hall. That can not be true.

Said they do not have a web site and when I asked for their business address so that I could verify their business license in my city they started getting agitated, rude and then hung up.

didn't answer - such a weird prefix 118 so i searched for the number and now have blocked the caller.

Received this call and called knew my name.  "local contractor" whereupon I interrupted and tried to explain that we have received multiple such calls and are not doing any projects.  Asked to remove my name and they hung up.  

More of the same. No respect for those who are on the "DO NOT CALL" list.

They know your name...do not say "yes" when they greet you by name.
