They want to tell you that you have Microsoft issues and they work for Microsoft.  They will not provide your their real phone number or any website for the real company they are working for and any email to associate with them.  Pure scam.

i got a call from 408 124 5782. The guy claimed to be from Microsoft and said that he was getting errors from my computer. He wanted me to review some reports that he was seeing. I asked him to prove that he was from the company and that I was actually one of his clients.

He started to try to impatiently reassure me that his call was legitimate. I played along for a brief minute and let him tell me what he wanted me to do. Since I was on a MAC, he wanted me to go google and bring up team viewer. Once he told me that, I let him know that in no way was I going to share access to my desktop with him (especially without any validation). He then proceeded to cuss me out. He started to curse me and my family. Needless to say, it was a scam.

Exactly the same thing happened to me from 408 124 5782.  Phone ID said South San Francisco Bay Area. Could hardly understand a word the fellow was saying.  Don't know what accent it was.  First he said "I'm calling about your Windows problem."  I said "I don't have Windows".  Then he said "I'll get the Mac person for you".  The "Mac person" said "Are you sitting in front of your computer?"  Is it on?  What do you see?
I would have hung up at the beginning if I hadn't just sent an email to the Seiko Smart Label Printer people about difficulty switching from Windows to iMac, and I didn't want to cut someone off if they had any relation to that request. . .even though I could hardly understand a word they were saying.
Scary when you realize you almost got had.  
 

Caller never says anything. Just annoying, wish there was some way to stop the crappy callers.
