TO ALL VICTIMS:  Bay Area Energy has been a victim of spoofing.  Spoofing is when a person or entity uses someone else's phone number to mask their true phone number to make contact to people to either make a prank or sell them on some sort of a scam.  If you have been called multiple times about Solar panels or harassed please be aware that this is NOT Bay Area Energy.  Our company is not involved with solar panels nor do we perform any kind of telemarketing let alone make cold calls to people on the national do not call list.  We are working with the FTC and local police department to find the culprits of this on going scam.  Next time you receive one of these calls, press *57 to trace where the call actually originated.  Please report to your local police department and FTC of this matter.  We apologize for any inconvenience and we understand how frustrating it is to receive unwanted phone calls at home.  Thank you for your patience.

I would not be at all surprised if the company that is spoofing your name and number turns out to be A1 Solar Power.  They are notorious for spoofing the names and numbers of legitimate companies.

Here's some information about A1 Solar Power that I found on this site:

This call is from A1 Solar Power, a solar company based in Van Nuys, California (with six branches throughout the state: San Diego, Costa Mesa, Carpenteria, Petaluma, Concord, and San Jose) or one of its telemarketing fronts.  

A1 Solar Power’s telemarketing fronts usually spoof both the Caller-ID name and the Caller-ID number or use recently disconnected numbers.  Occasionally, they will spoof the active number of an unsuspecting victim.

Thank you for this information.  I get these calls all the time - after telling them I was on the DNC list and to stop. It comes in under various Caller ID.

When the first call came in a looooong time ago, I did answer.
The man represented himself as Bay Area Energy.  At that time I told him I was on the DNC list and to stop calling.
Obviously, I was ignored.

The Caller ID on this number has also come in under CA Energy Initiative, A1 Solar, Go Green, and others.

Got a call from 408-642-5364. I quickly got on 800 notes to check and behold, Bay Area Energy was the 1st post stating that they don't make cold calls. Since I was not expecting any call from Bay Area Energy, I just rejected the call and hung up. Thanks for your forewarning and thanks 800 notes and the folks who post here. This is one step closer to stopping these good-for-nothing scammers.
