I've been getting this call almost everyday these days... when i pick there is no answer and when i call back it asks for some authorisation code. Couldnt find out who is behind this, want to block the number

I am also getting calls from same number .. I am using Vonage at home ..

I just received a call from this number and when I called back I had the same experience as Surya.

Same exprerience. I got the call from the same number around 5-6 times and had the same response

Same expeirence....got call two times....no answer from anyone....when I call back...it's asking some authorization code.  I am also using Vonage.

Same here. Got a call from this same number at my workplace. Would like to know who it is, before I try to call them back.

Using a VOIP service (ITP) in my office, and got a call purportedly from this number this morning - when I answered it turned out to be a legitimate call from a business contact in North Carolina, just the caller ID information was not reflecting the call source (408 is a San Jose area code - where my office is based). I think it's just an issue with incorrect caller ID reporting from some numbers.

I am getting call every day from this number...who the f.. this  number belongs to and how to block it.

This is crazy. I received 3 calls last night from this number and when my wife picked up the third time, she got a crazy women other side who mentioned that my son has been dating her for last 15 days. In reality my son is in India. I have gone ahead and complained this to local authorities but they seem to have no clue. I agree that this seems a VOIP call... or some kind of SCAM.

You seem to so true much right. I have these calls today morning. I pick up the call two times and then there was no voice talking to me. I tried calling back the same number and it had asked for some authorization code. The phone rang again and this moment my daughter picked up and there was a male who was asking details of my family member. I snatch phone from my daughter and then tried talk with him and there was no voice and only beep. It was getting very wired.

This modus operandi has been in business for many years. I used to work for department of communications as an investigator. Some of the key observations are:
- These calls are only targetted to communities where family values and bonds are strong. These emotional values are taken ransom for.
- The folks making these calls use different communication in the likes of, unsolicited emails, phones, and they sound very genuine and convincing. The telecom providers have no clue or control in these cases. They almost leave no traces to find them back.
- People also suspect that some times it could be private investigators who originate these calls so that they can get more business. PLEASE DO NOT ENTERTAIN any body who posts blogs or asks you to get in touch with them for any investigation.
- All kinds of cases have been reported ranging from cheating by one of the spounses, stories on sexual abuse of minors and many more ...
My advice is on the next blog

- Please install caller ID's and make sure that your family members are advised not to entertain any calls. Please note that these calls can come from any local or long distance numbers.
- Do not post your private information especially phone numbers and address on public portals. Viewers can have access to all kinds of information including could be cell phones, home phones or email addresses.
- Please advise your family members not to get carried away and setup face to face meetings with strangers. That can very dangerous
- Its a crazy web world. Any one can create emails, pictures or introduce unknown strangers as witnesses. Do you really want to trust them more than your loved ones?
- This is for ladies in the house. PLEASE DO SHARE ABOUT SUCH CALLS OR EMAILS WITH OTHERS FAMILY MEMBERS. DO NOT MEET OR ENTERTAIN STRANGERS. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TARGETED ON YOU.
- Another advise would be to constantly change your telephone numbers and never to make it listed

I do have VONAGE.  I believe they use this number as if somebody was calling you LOCALLY but, it is not true.
Today, somebody called from GUADALAJARA MX, and when we had AT&T at least they displayed the correct caller ID from MX.  Now, it appears like a local number.  However, I spoke with my sister in law.
First time they called they hang up on me, then they called again and I started talking to somebody I know.  As long as I they don't overcharge my phone bill or is not PHONE SCAM I am ok with it.
It doesn't really bother me if display a LOCAL NUMBER from San Jose,CA but, I will find out later on the truth and posted again here.
So, whatch out guys if you get a LOCAL call in REALITY is an INTERNATIONAL call.  You need to look or review your phone bill from VONAGE.

This number comes from a sex site and it gives you an authorization code so you may visit the site and meet up with BBW, and so you can text them when you sign up.Ok,I'm a lonely guy and I just received a code 3001 to start seeking BBW to meetup for sex,dating,etc.
