Text message saying "Hi, When are you going to complete the Secret shopper assignment? Please reply"
I called the number back and it said "You have reached your friends voicemail on 'TEXTME'" Pretty certain it's a scam.

same comment as above when calling this number back, however this is the number I got from a "Thomas Young" who sent me a check for cleaning services well above negotiated price and wanted me to send balance back to "John Stanford" in Fort Worth TX, 3500 Hemphill St which is a Conoco gas station lot. check he sent me was bogus and now I'm out $1100+ dollars. my fault for falling for scam. DON'T BE THEIR NEXT VICTIM, IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE......IT IS !!!

Yes, this is a well known business scam.  The fact that they wanted you to cash the check and mail money should have been a huge red flag.  Also, as business owner you should know that having the money made available by the bank and the check actually clearing are two different things.

Got the same text message and an email from a James Abbott. It all started with an email about a job from CareerBuilder.com. I applied for it and then got a confirmation from James Abbott, about being accepted to be a secret shopper.  He said I would receive a package in the mail for my first assignment. I was surprised to see a large check for $1741. The assignment was to shop at Walmart, etc. and then wire $1341 (through MoneyGram) to another person, etc. and then email him saying what I've done. Fortunately, for me, I knew it was too good to be true. I kept asking if I was going to complete the job. After questioning him, going to a bank to ask about the check and then doing more research on line, I confirmed it was a scam. Right now, he thinks I cashed the check. I will wait to hear from again. LOL

Got the same check for $1741 as Lew, noted above, after sending an inquiry about a job from CareerBuilder.  It all looks so fishy.  Definitely won't be cashing the check

I'd take the check and the envelope to the local post office as I am sure the Postal Inspectors would like to take a look at it-possible mail fraud.

I just received a postal money order from James Abbott. I also went looking for work on Careerbuilder like Ivory. I am About to take it to the post office and report it .
