I put an ad up to sell a dress and someone named Kate responded and left that phone number. I guarantee Ill be getting a ton of spam now because I replied to her email

I literally just got the same! And for the same reason, I'm selling a dress. Except the persons name in this case is Kathy White. Definitely a scam.

Me too...Same story...I had a wedding dress for sale as well. Someone named Kathy White emailed me about my post. Unfortunately, I read the area code as 404 instead of 409, so I thought the person was located in my area and called/emailed them back. Now they have both my email and phone number.

Forgot to mention that this Kathy person wanted me to send an invoice through paypal to the following account: cgredstores@gmail.com. Luckily, by then I realized it was a scam, but they got my email and phone number in the process :(

Kathy at that email address wanted to buy a wedding ring set and pay by PayPal and have someone pick it up. Told her cash only.

Had my car up for sale on a classified ads website. Got an email from 'Kathy White' saying she wanted to buy the car for her cousin as a surprise. She was conveniently away on business therefore could not come to view the car, but was happy to pay the full amount that was advertised and she would send a shipping agent to pick the car up. 'She' only wanted to deal through PayPal, and became quite pushy in trying to get my account details. I told her cash only and I've never heard back. Definite scam.

Kathy White gave me the PayPal scam spew too regarding a wedding ring. No dice.

Same thing as everyone else. Have a wedding ring for sale and got an email asking if it was still available, left the phone number. Not recognizing the area code I looked it up right away and saw it was a scam. I've had others contact me as well and push for the paypal info like people have said. So I'm sure if I responded she'd have asked for the same thing.

Thanks to you guys, I won't be involved in the scam. I read your comments before i contacted Kathy White.  Thanks again.

Craigslist & Kijiji are NOT eBay. You should NEVER take Paypal. They were designed for LOCAL - CASH. Put that in your ad, as well as NO TEXT. "Cash & Carry"

Interesting list regarding this kathy White person. I advertised a piece of art for sale and recieved an identical response to those you all did. Not sure how the scam work thorugh PayPal. Can anyone explain this to me?

pick up  they said they can only schedule the pick up date and time
when they receive their money for the pick up via Western Union Money
transfer in there head office in Tx, So i included 700 for their pick
up fee and 100 for the Western Union charges to the payment i sent to
your paypal account and PayPal will instruct you on how to get the
money sent to my pick up agent. The payment has been made and the
money has been deducted from my account...Kindly get the shipping fee
sent to the name and address below and send the details to paypal
account customer care for your total funds to be credited. I believe
that since payment has been made, the advert should be taken off the
site.


PS: If you Didn't receive the paypal payment receipt in your email?
kindly check your email spam/junk folder because that was where i
found my receipt.

PS:  "Kathy White" did not send any money to my PayPal account, because she did not have any of my information!  Just how stupid does "she" think I am?

Trying to sell my mother in law's quilting machine on craigslist... same opener as above from Kathy White. I replied and told her no sale unless she personally comes to see it and hand us cash or a cashier's check from a regional bank out here.

Posted piece of Art and got email from Cathy White - yeah sure I think not thanks for all the above posts.

I rxed. msg. from paypal saying payment for piano had been made but before they could give me confirm # I would need to 500 to courtney Grant sounds like scam to me. I am calling paypal to check it out
