- RexieA small church...we keep getting rude calls demanding to know who our maintenance man is. (we don't have one.)
When asked to identify himself, the caller says, "Larry, the electrical guy."
This time he said, "Well, too bad, when you hear the truck arriving with the supplies you ordered." (we didn't.)
How do we stop these calls?- Caller: 410-631-1816
- Retirement CommunityWe've received the same calls from this gentleman as well as a guy named John. Said the company was "Werner". At first they try to act all buddy buddy, but then they either hang up or get incredibly rude!
This guy asked for our maintenance guy's cell number. I told him I didn't have it. He started getting very rude and I asked if I could pass him to his voicemail. I did, then two seconds later he called on another line. I told him the same thing. He then proceeded to ask for our Director. Again I told him that he wasn't available. He got more and more heated with me. VERY RUDE! SCAMMER!!!!!!!! If there's any way to report it, please someone post it!- Caller: "Distributing"
- BillGot a call from the same number (410) 631-1816. It is a phone bank of callers using different numbers trying to sell you electrical supplies - primarily light bulbs. And of course, everyone needs light bulbs.
One suggestion is to never use the word "YES" in your brief conversation with anyone who calls from a phone bank. We had a situation where the phone conversation was recorded by the scamming party and replayed to make it sound like we had placed an order; including the recognizable voice of our receptionist saying YES. She said yes to a completely related question, but he had the "doctored" recording.
So, say: NO, we don't need anything. NO, we are not interested. NO, don't call us again. They are rude and deceptive and don't deserve a moment of your time. If nothing else, just hang up. Chances are they will not call a second time.- Call type: Telemarketer
- AshleyGuy called from this number. Said he was an electrician and was coming to do work on a part we didn't have. GOT VERY RUDE and then proceeded to call back twice and act like he didn't hear me and then started mocking me. I kept the phone off the hook for some time and he quit.

- LyndaReceived a call today, similar to those above. Caller acts as if he has business with our head maintenance person but can't remember his name or phone number, asks if I can give out his cell phone number. No, sorry, but I can send him a message - what's your callback number? Oh, I'm in the warehouse, I don't know what the number here is. Caller gets indignant at my refusal to give the phone number, asks if I want to derail the entire project. I ask him what project? He asks if I expect him to explain the entire complicated electrical project (condescending - I'm a woman, after all). I tell him that, as a matter of fact, I would like him to explain it to me. He instead asks my name - unfortunately, I wasn't thinking quickly enough not to give it to him. While this discussion is going on, I'm punching his phone number into Google. I then told him I knew what he was up to and read him a few of the entries posted here. Told him never to call us again and hung up. Now we'll wait and see if unexpected packages show up....

- LizWe just received a call from the same number 410-631-1816. I work at a church and when I answered the phone, a man asked for the "maintenance guy" and when I said our maintenance person is not a guy, he abruptly hung up. I had the # on our caller ID so I called it and some "switchboard person" answered saying it was Werner Enterprises. I told her I needed to speak with the man who had just called and she said there were a lot of "salesmen" and she had no way of knowing which one it was. I asked what Werner Enterprises does or sells and she quickly put me on hold. I waited a long time and another female came on the line and I repeated my question and she put me on hold, too. Again, I waited a long time and finally gave up. These people seem to be "up to something."
