- guy| 1 replyDid not leave a message. Just hung up after a few rings.
- fs2k| 1 replyI answered this once. They said they are doing a survey for the state government on health care and asked for some of my time. It was a "very important survey" and they didn't like the fact that I didn't want to disclose any information about myself over the phone to an unknown entity.
I really don't know or care if it is legitimate. The state shouldn't expect people to give up information about their health or health care status to a stranger on the phone.- Call type: Valid
- Disturbed| 1 replyAnswered once after a 4th attempt from this number. The caller asked if my number was a cell phone and after telling him it was, he thanked me and hung up.
- rockville residentWoman called, doing a survey for the Maryland Department of Health. Said our # was randomly chosen. She asked if this was a residence or cell number. I asked her how long the survey would take. She said it depended on who was in the household. Then she asked me how many adults were in the household, how many were women, men, etc. Then she asked me if the oldest male was available, and I said no, and I don't know when he would be available. And she ended the call.
I got suspicious (too late!) and looked up this number.
I also agree that the state government should not be soliciting private information over the phone.- Caller: Unknown listed
- rockville resident| 5 repliesCalled back the number, and learned that it's a private research company contracted for the MD state dept of health and hygiene. Talked to a supervisor named Ed. Advised him that their employees are not 1. explaining the purpose of the survey 2. use of information 3. privacy practices and that they are abruptly ending the call when they find that they have not gotten the identified survey respondent that they want. He explained that the numbers are drawn randomly, as are the desired survey respondents in the household, and that they explain the survey to that desired survey respondent. I responded that the explanation should be given to the first respondent also, since that is the person whom is being asked to give up information. He tried to pin the blame on the caller, saying that the caller would be "re-trained," to which I responded that the caller needed a new script from this company. Of course it's the company who is at fault for not providing better protocol, not so much the employees. I also advised him of this website.
If anyone else continues to get calls using the same offending approach, then the MD state department of health or state assembly representative should be notified.- Caller: unknown listed

i got this link, apparetnly this is the survey they are doing. it has links to the actual questionnaire script these callers read. under english questionnaires i think it was. shows what questions they ask and how they start the interview. also shows data reports. - rita| 1 replyAlso have been receiving calls from the above number. I traced the number to this website: www.cdc.gov/diabetes/states/md.htm
I went to the "contact us" button and asked them to stop calling. And also referenced this website and others re: the phone calls from the 410-767-6774 number. - Annoyed| 1 replyI too have received calls from this number. If I don't answer, they hang up before leaving a message... and then call back later. My spouse answered the call once and told them not to call back and yet they do. I thought this was unlawful as we have:
1. Told them not to call again and
2. Our number is in the Do Not Call registry... - Bill Wilkes| 2 replies"Good evening, sir, I'm conducting a survey on behalf of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene..."
I hung up without a another word before he could proceed.
We have Caller ID and the only reason I answered was that the calling number was local.- Caller: Unknown Name

- Doug| 1 replyI think there is something fishy about these calls. I have told them REPEATEDLY to STOP calling me. They will NEVER get ANY HEALTH related information from me EVER. I strongly believe that someone in the health system is giving the STATE home telephone numbers of people with chronic conditions. This is one reason they NEVER STOP calling as requested. The number comes back to the Diabetes division of the Maryland State Health Department. Calls from your state government about your health? It is enough to make one tremble with fear.
I have ALSO had these people use a rather wrong attitude when I told them to stop calling and that I refused to participate in their survey.- Caller: Maryland State Health Department

- AnonymSick of getting calls from this number. I was going to answer the survey, but the boy on the phone told me, after a series of questions, that he needed to speak to the man of the house. The person was rude, so I told them NOT to call me again. This is like the 4th time. I think I need to contact an attorney. The calls are documented on my caller ID
- KenThis number keeps coming up on my caller id and I am going to block this number. They call between 6 pm and 8 pm.State offices are closed between these hours and I also am on the do not call list
- Heatlth care policy expertGot a call checked this site they called at 8 pm did not answer this is a scam. Do not answer any questions!!!!!
- Continuing PlagueThis continues - same as what has already been posted. Too many fishy questions. After asking how many males and females over the age of 18 live in the house I told they I did not wish to participate. They hung up saying they would call back another time. DON'T BOTHER!

- GiGiCaller has called severl times, fortunately for me I was not at home. My call ID says Md. State Govt.
Reading the above responses,State and Federal Governments do not operate in that manner. They usually communicate with the public by mail.- Caller: Md. State Government
- AnonymI am sick and tired of these annoying calls. I never answer them when I see the number come up on my caller ID. At first I was concerned because I saw MD STATE GOV but then figured if it was that important they would leave a message. No message was ever left. However; I keep getting these calls all hours of the day and night. I never answer them but it is still very annoying. Just now got one and it was after 8;30 pm. What gov. workers work after 8:30 pm that would find it so important to contact you??? None! Other then not answering, what else can be done to stop this. Any suggestions??
- Caller: MD STATE GOV.
- Anrew Blackman| 1 replyI received a call from an unidentified female. She did not identify her company. She alleged that she was taking a survey about mental health. This is the second instance in which this seemingly bogus company has called. I said that I did not accept surveys over the telephone and that if she would please mail it to me, I would be happy to respond. She indicated that she was simply not listening. Mentioned something about the CDC, but come on, the Centers for Disease Control does not cold call people. Her argument was further undermined by saying that it would cost too much to send out a letter. Since when does the CDC have such petty, petty concerns.
Do this person a favor, should she call you... tell her to send you the survey in the mail, wish her well, and politely hang up (that is more courtesy than she will provide you).- Caller: Unidentified
