I just received a call from this number, no message left.  I have now blocked them on my caller ID

Another site says it was a charity asking for police donations.

"looking to collect donations for fallen police officers a scam"

As far as I am concerned these twits aren't charity they are telemarketers, since most of the charity gets little of what is donated.

I treat ANY call from an alleged as a potential scam. If I want to donate,  I will go to them instead of waiting for a call.

That is exactly why I screen every call these days. If I don't know the number - I don't answer even if I am home.
I don't pick up on Private calls because they can be masked by scammers and Unknown or Unavailable are also jokers.
Just city and state or just city or just state in the ID are also most likely bogus.

My own new message seems to deter a few from leaving theirs...
"Hello.... (pause to catch 'em if I can...) Identifiable honorable messages will be returned."
Doesn't stop the robo calls or faxes but I've been getting less these days. :)

Amazing that some (cough) business are still using phone directories that are over ten years old, some older.

I used to get several to a half dozen a day, now I get that much a week. Some days actually none.

Congratulations!  You successfully confirmed to these scammers that your number is a working number that belongs to a household and not a business or fax machine, etc.  Now you can expect lots more scam calls---from these people and all the other scammers they sell your number to.

Answering machine picked up, scumbags didn't leave a message. Why can't this advanced technology of ours help us find these people & throw them in jail, or at least give us a legal way to sue them for something--annoyance calls, breach of privacy, whatever!

Got a call from this number a short time ago. No message left.

A number came up on our caller ID as Pittsburgh, PA    number was 412-419-0540      Morons call all hours of the day and night,  but never leave a message.   We do not answer any calls if we have no clue who they are.   We are so sick and tired of these scammers and the do not call list is worthless.    Does anyone have one of those devices to block calls??   And if so,  where can you buy one??

Called. Did not say anything. Thought I'd come here to see if it was a questionable number, and it is.

Just got a call telling me they are PA stathe police.  Guess they wanted  another donation.  Scammers.

Called home, left no message.

Scam message.

This guy is an [***].  He says his name is Sam Pearl. Then he argued with me when I said I already told him to take me off list last time they called.  He's collecting for some police organization.  Idiots.

Go to Amazon.  They have plenty of blocking machines.
