Found online that the number belongs to ebsebooks.com AKA Electronic Business Resources 412-927-0410
They got me for $2.95 also but I have reported them to the attorney general, the local police, AND I am in the process of shutting down their website. They will not be allowed to continue ripping people off!
I also had a charge in my checking account from Electronic Business Resources 412-927-0410 for the amount of $2.95. It's an unknown charge for my debit card. Fraud charges related to this number can be found on internet(many).
They are also taking money out of my account thru my debit card info, i have tried to call them and get voicemail. I have to keep taking off work to go dispute this charge
I called and e-mailed.. this is the response I got..
From: support@ebsebooks.com My name is David Bergman and I represent EBR LLC Customer Service. We got an e-mail from you reporting a charge from our website on your credit card. Thank you for reporting about this situation promptly.
I guess I should explain everything to you. Our company sells E-Books, electronic manuals on different topics, mostly business. The price you reported is one of the prices of our products and we think that your card was charged for the price of a E-Book bought on our website.
In this regard I have a very important question for you: Are you sure that nobody but you has access to your credit card information(name and number)? You see, if your card was charged and you didn't know about that somebody does have your card information and can use it. Please check it.
We have already removed the charge you reported. The refund will be stated in your account within two or three business days.
Nevertheless I strongly recommend you to call your bank and ask them to issue another card for you. Because if your card was once charged without your notification there's no guarantee that the person having access to the CC information wouldn't use it again.
It is also possible that some banking error occurred and your card was charged by mistake. If there are no other unidentified charges in your card that is the most probable variant. But still please call them and talk it over.
I have also had no luck with these guys. Made quite a few calls to no avail. Cancelled my card. Also, bank suggested to let the Feds know about this fraud by going to www.ic3.gov
No call received, but, like others, received two charges on my bankcard for $4.95 each. The phone number shows up on my bank statement with the merchant name as Electronic Business. Never heard of this company. I have cancelled my card and reported this company as fraudulent. Thank you, Amanda (above), for finding the web site ebsebooks.com. It is a bogus site if I ever saw one. Supposed to be an e-book resource, but only lists 34 titles. The site is full of bad grammar and misspellings. They don't give any details about the company. They must rip off thousands of people for small amounts, which they hope will not be noticed. I am reporting them to the FTC.
I did not receive a phone call, but I have had 3 charges from this company made to my credit card. I checked out the site and it is a joke! called the phone number and that is eve more of a joke! I have sent 3 email, left 3 voicemails and I have not heard a word. I am disputing these charges back to my credit card company and most likely will have to cancel my card. I am quite angry over all of this inconvenience!!
Same here, these thieves charged 4.95 to my check card. Called the bank to report this as a fraudulent transaction; bank will refund money and start investigation. Their phone # is disconnected. My debit card was cancelled and re-issued. What a hassle!
No phone call, just the charge on my statement Thank you Google.....found you guys here when I googled the phone # $4.95 charged on the 23rd of March 09.....called MasterCard to report it. Charges dropped and A new CC being issued.
Like you stated...what a hassle.....but, such a small amount that you might dismiss it
Fradulent charge on my bank statement for $4.95 from . Now I have to get a new debit card and then figure out what automatic payments I have set up against my old debit card and change them all.
