pick up on the first and secound ring. no one on the other end they're dialing faster than they have people to pick up on thier line. No one ever answers it just turns into a busy signal. I got my # back in Oct'08 and this is unlisted  nonpublished. Unfortunately the person that had this # before me has tons of bill collectors. I finally went from 100 calls a month to 3. Now this market probe is calling. I've called them and to remove my # but they haven't. also reported to the Do not call reg... At least you have an address. I found out at "who is calling" that it is some credit card consolidation thing for people in default. No business with me but since they obviously don't listen to thier voice mail or they think I'm the previous owner of this #

I just called them back and told them not to bother us any more. What a laugh. I am sure they will double their efforts now that I did that. They are harassing us and asking for banking information. Like I will tell them anything. They come up on our ID as "Market Probe" I see their address on this forum and when I checked the area code it said the same state as well. They are trying to collect information and maybe misuse things. I don't trust them. Any time your info is needed by a bank you call them they never call you. The best bet is to go to your local branch and speak to them. This appears to be a way to harvest personal information and steal identities.

So much of this nonsense exists in our computerised world, anything like this red flags high suspicion in me. Look out for any goof that calls you and asks copious questions about your banking account and your full name, where you live and your address. They could use your name and anything else they harvest in this way to state a fake account. Just don't answer the phone, turn them in to where ever is the best channel and be safe.

If they are part of a collection agency, well it would seem they would know after a few unsuccessful attempts that their client is no longer at that address. This sounds like a ring of thieves. The type that send fake emails claiming to be Pay-pal and offers for a lot of money from other countries. It is all fraud and should be avoided at all times. My opinion here but I feel anyone needs to filter them out. If they don;t stop calling I will not answer any more like I did with another idiot like this, and they eventually gave up. Good luck

    old debt
I finally figured this one out -its a bill collection agency that has obtained very old debt information and is attempting to collect.

Problem is, the debt has already been paid - YEARS ago.

I did owe on a back credit card.  But when I refinanced my house 7-8 years ago I paid off the debt.  I have proof of it - however the credit card company sold the info to more than one collection agency.  This is one of them.

This is a new "scam" going on right now.  They are fishing to see if they get a bite and win big if they do.

I have gotten numerous phone calls on my work phone in the evening.  They don't leave a message.  I phoned the number indicated on my caller ID today and a lady answered, "Market Probe."  I hung up and called back 5 more times with the same result.  I figured, why not do the same thing to them?

id says market probe.   They asked for my son.  When I asked if I could give him a message they said it was in regards to a recent visit to US Bank and they will call back.  He has an account with US Bank but has not visited the bank recently and ther is no problem with his account.  If there was the bank itself would call.  someone shut these people down!

Only the phone number shows up on my Caller ID. I never answer calls coming in from other states, knowing they are telemarketers or market research companies. MARKET RESEARCH COMPANIES and CHARITIES are exempt from the Do Not Call List. They have to code your phone number "Never Call" when you request this.

Hello, I work there. If you want to be added to the do not call list just call 414-778-6000 and ask to be added to it. She will need your phone number in order to honor your request. If you've already done this then there must be a problem. I would suggest giving some more information in that case such as the time of the call and perhaps ask the interviewer what study they are calling you for.

A predictive dialer (computer) is being used to dial numbers and then it detects when someone answers. It then transfers the call to an interviewer. Sometimes you will pick up after the maximum number of rings and that can cause this behavior. This can also be caused by dead lines. Also, there may be some issues in the software which cause a dropped call. Although we do our best to avoid these situations, we simply do not know about them sometimes because we are not on your end of the line and have no way of telling when problems might be occurring.

Market Probe is a market research company. They call to do surveys for clients. It has nothing to do with credit card consolidation. When you request to be put on the do not call list, make sure to leave your number otherwise we have no information to go off of.

I think you've misunderstood. Market Probe does telephone surveys and they do have banks as their clients. In other words, the bank wants to know how they are doing via your feedback. Market Probe is the middleman that gathers that data. Your information is given to Market Probe from the banks so your opinions can be gathered. It's a market research company.

It is not a debt collection agency. It is a Market Research company.
