Heavy accent said he is irs investigations that I owed back taxes in that I would be arrested and taken to the courthouse. Crooks everywhere. I hung up if he calls back I will call tge police

This is going around - it's an scam claiming to be the IRS. Here is a good article about it.

Yes, in fact this number is a SCAM!!  
The first caller is Daniel Martin and then a Kenneth Vester.   Hello, you cant understand them because of their heavy accents and they both don't have extensions.  Here was my first clue, Google the phone number, it says that they are calling from California.  Isn't the IRS in Ogden, UT?
Then when they call back they ask for your cell number,  (in my case they are calling a business to begin with)   shouldn't you have this pertinent information about the person you are trying to collect from?

Never pay anything over the phone, the IRS has a website to pay your past due taxes on.  USE IT!!!

Keeps calling every 3 minutes and not saying anything. Called the number back they answered IRS Investigations then hung up on me when I spoke

A person with a very heavy accent called us stating that he is from the IRS in regards to the deficiency in our revenue taxes and demanded we should call this above hotline number before any legal alligators take place. We asked our tax attorney to call back and he said that it's some sort of scam.

They are alligators all right.  Illegal alligators at that.  And they tell people a croc of nonsense. Any time anyone with an Indian accent calls you and asks for money,  you know it's a scam.  IRS only accepts payments through their own portals.

A person at 415-230-2734 called me on a Sat. Morning 1/11/14 and said that I had been audited by IRS and That I owe a lot of money and have refused to answer previous correspondence. It was a woman's voice with a heavy accent.
I said that I believe this to be a scam and if their claims were true and legit that they should send me confirmation via USPS.

Got the same call, asking for my wife. Very threating, voice saying " will face consequences" if she didn't give her information and pay some sort of back taxes. My wife gave it right back to them saying she wasn't going to give nothing over a phone and the guy just hung up. I attempted to call the number back and it is continually busy. Googled it and found a lot of information about this scam. Wanted to thank everyone for there post and information. We called the sheriff and the news station and I encourage everyone else to do the same. Thanks again for your information

Received the same message from guy with heavy accent.  Told him that if he was a true IRS agent he would have provided me with agent ID number.  Also, said that the IRS has not sent me any via mail as they normally do when contacting individuals.  I told the caller that I have dealt with the IRS before and know the procedures.  

Just got a call from a person with a heavy accent. Says his name is Coleman Agnes and he is with IRS. Said I had a major tax problem and I needed to call a James Anderson at 415 690 1277. This is a scam and I wish are government would shut these morons down. I'm sure they prey on possibly elderly people that just might believe their [***]. Please don't fall for this SCAM.
At the end I told the caller what he could do with his investigation.

Just received a voicemail from this number asking for someone who's name sounded similar to a former married name so I knew right there something was up.  Tried calling back to mess with them a bit figuring it to be a scam but they never answered.  Same as others reported, telling me I have a big tax problem and to have myself or my tax attorney call them back.  

I have dealt with the IRS myself and know how the operate, and this is certainly not how it is done.
