- NF| 1 replyRobocall using a bad voice synth program left two vaguely-threatening messages on my voice mail. The first part was cut off, something about "before we take action against you."
- T. WilliamsGot a call from 415-2334-9704 Said that it was the IRS. It was a recorded message that my attorney or myself, had to call them back at the number 415-234-9704, or they would take actions against me. The caller never said my name or who the call was for.
- Caller: IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- ConfusedI doubt the IRS would call and not contact via USPS
- Call type: Prank
- JoanKAlso received a call from 415-234-9704 saying they were IRS. They had my name and asked for other family member information which I refused to give knowing this was a scam. I was willing to play along for a minute. When I confronted the caller that I had a relative who is an IRS agent they promptly hung up even before I could finish the sentence that the IRS never calls you but contacts individuals by mail first. Hopefully no one falls for these scam artists.

- LVRobocall twice this morning; couldn't figure out message, as it was so garbled first time. Thought they were calling for Jerry Smith; from IRS; same verbiage as provided in other posts. Second call, identified as Officer Julie Smith with the IRS. Saw the area code is California, and I'm in Maryland. Also felt I'd have received something in mail first. Was going to call, just to see how far I could get for info, in case they were looking for someone else (I get that a lot). Seeing these posts, I know it's not worth it. Thank you for your information.

- Mike, Jr.Received same call twice today and same number other days. Obvious scam attempt.
- Caller: Irs
- LeslieReceived 2 messages at my house from this number; claimed to be IRS and that I needed to call asap otherwise penalties would increase. I filed a complaint with FTC; also left message for scammers telling them I'd break their knee caps if they call again.
- Caller: IRS Scam
- jamesCalled three times with one hour between each call. Voice mail said to call to avoid further action from IRS. Julie Smith at 415-234-9704, from IRS. Nice threatening call! Of course, the IRS does NOT contact people in this way. Sure is aggravating to have to call voice mail each time to erase the message.
- Caller: IRS according to voice mail message
- AnnoyedCalled three times today - female - monotone, robotic voice - The first part is cut off. THE MESSAGE IS: "The hotline to my ????tion/cian (POSITION?) is 415-234-9704.......Don't disregard this message...contact us before we take any action against you. Good Bye and take care!"
PHONY!!
Working on scare tactics. Called back by accident (hit wrong button on phone) and, yes, you do get connected to voice mail.
I choose to ignore this nonsense! Christmas scammer!?!?!?!?
Any "organization" taking action against someone......Would they really say "Good bye and take care"????? Also would not say "my position"..... The voice could be an automated translation voice?
Although 415 is a CA area code, the call can be place from anywhere (in the WORLD) with today's technology.- Caller: unknown (The hotline to my position is......)
- Annoyed (previous post)SEE PREVIOUS POST - CALLED THREE TIMES TODAY + WILL IGNORE FURTHER CALLS.
By the way, has anyone participated in an on-line defensive driving course that happens to have a support network in CA and certificate mailed from CA?
The San Jose-Almaden, CA 415 area code just happens to be in proximity of where the improv defensive drising certificate was mailed from; The certificate was mailed from Santa Clara, CA. Coincidence?
Any one else take defensive driving on line?- Caller: (The hotline position is.....)
- Providing infoThis is a scam phone call from someone impersonating an IRS agent.
According to the IRS website:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim’s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it’s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver’s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.

- luciusI got three automated calls of the same nature. One call was yesterday while I was not home and only got the phone number. The other two calls were today about half hour apart. Used the name Julie Smith and that we or our attourney should contact them as soon as possible or they would take actions against us. I did not get the number they were calling from because I do not have caller ID. We were supposed to call 415-234-9704. Knowing people that work for USPS I knew that the IRS sends out certified letters not calls.
If you get this call DO NOT call them back. DO NOT give out any of your information.- Call type: Prank
- LBKGot a call from this number 415-234-9704. Vaguely threatening robocall. I did call back and the man on the line had no idea who I was, which was very suspicious. Definitely sounds like a scheme and not the IRS
