- Derf| 9 repliesGot a pre-recorded call allegedly from the I.R.S. They wanted me to call 415-251-9813 immediately or they would have to start legal proceedings. I know that the IRS only contacts you by mail. The caller's syntax sounded like one of the usual scammers trying to get you to reveal ID data. I did not hear the beginning of the call so I do not know what name they used. This call came from Novato, CA and was probably from a burner cell phone.
- Pete DRec'd same type of call as Derf - I believe the caller was "officer Grey". Hard to hear the first 3-5 seconds. I paid my taxes. I am also under the impression the IRS only contacts by mail.
- Caller: I R S
- jimTotal scam call. Poorly executed but likely to scare some people. The IRS would never make a call like this.
- SteveReceived the same call...emailed www.tigta.gov (IRS) and put in a complaint.
- AlTotal scam. Heather Grey was the person they ask you to contact. I called and let them have it. When I said I want proof they are the IRS he said we are the IRS. I said good when I call the 800 number for the federal IRS then they should have the same story. He said we are federal and the 800 number is the local IRS. I laughed and hung up.
- R. A.This is such a scam! I almost had a heart attack! Do not believe, first they tell you that you owe money and you have to pay in 2 hours or police is going to arrest you. They ask you if you have ever been arrested then there's a person who's the head of IRS that can help you. Little you know that you have to pay right away or go to court. Very evil, do not give any personal information. And please, report this number and (415) 251-9049 this one 2

- tomRec'd call after a while they said complaint has been filed and local police would be here in 2 hours to arrest me. (I am disabled and my wife is excited about not having to care for me for a few days!)
- CindysCalled and left same message your retained attorney I am officer Heather Grey from IRS and call back before we take legal action this is an extremely time sedative issue. No name was left for who the message was for and the voice sounded computer like. I am glad other wrote that this is a scam because it was a creepy message and I do believe the its would contact by mail first if there was an issue and they do not threaten legal action. And we have an accountant do our taxes.
- Caller: Claimed officer from IRS
- CarolynneThey called from (415) 251-9813 left a message saying they are the IRS.. Total scammers!! Our taxes are up to date, I get a call every few months from different scammers, always trying to get information.. And when you refuse and laugh at them, they get mad and swear at you. Just beware of these people. They'll call with a different number and story in a few weeks.

- D. MackCalled on a Sat. afternoon 2 times in 3 hrs. threatening to take legal "allegations" whatever that means. When you call back it goes to voicemail. I am sooo sick of these annoying , threatening , intrusive a calls.
I just want to be left alone.
If I could, I'd sue them for harassment !!!!- Caller: IRS
- DannyReceived a call today from 415-251-9813. Left a voicemail. Computer voice "Julie Smith" of the IRS told me I was legally obligated to call her. I called back to give her a piece of my mind, but there was nothing but dead air. Total scam.

- Matthew| 1 replyReceived a call with a hard to hear message. called the number back got a guy in broken english (indian I think) told me that all my worldly goods and bank account wold be seized and that I would be jailed. They were quick to tell me that if I paid them $4900 by credit card that I would be out of trouble. I said what kind of scam was this? and I told them I wanted to speak with a supervisor and they hung up.

- MaryYes got the phone call 415 251 9813. We get these every few months. Shows you what little control there is to these crimes as they seem to roam freely on line and on the phones. Sad this is how they turned out to be. Im sure there parents didnt raise them to be like this. I dont ever pick up on them. Its gotton very evil out there. Id like to talk to them in person and say Hey! what happened to you? to where you have to do this for a living, sad loosers.

- FranI received a threatening call from Jennifer Smith from the "IRS." It said not to ignore the call and that I needed to return the call to her division with the provided number before legal allegation was taken against me. It was a creepy automated voice and ended with "goodbye and take care." Yeah, right!
When I called the man I spoke to was extremely rude. I told him I'd received a voicemail. He was curt and insulting, I don't remember what he said but it was unprofessional (apparently scammers don't understand how to properly impersonate people). He asked if I was Barbara. I told him no, he replied "Don't call this number again," and hung up. I'm glad something felt wrong. They don't know what they're doing.- Caller: IRS

- Jessica replies to MatthewThey are from Pakistan.. Got the call twice within hours today...
- LianaI just got a call from the same number 415-251-9813. It was the message, a woman's automated recording from office Julie Smith. She stated the hotline for her division is and listed the phone number above. She said "don't ignore the message and do return a call before we take any legal action. Good bye and take care.." First of all, IRS doesn't list hotline numbers, so that was already strange and yet I did call back.
I have called back right away and Officer Mak picked up. At first he asked me to verify name and then he stated that the address he had on file for me in Menlo Park and when I said it's not my address he said then sorry wrong case and hung up on me. I called back and said: "I am sorry, but you hung up without re-verifying that everything is ok with my account and I said IRS usually is sending mail out and I think they are a fraud and I will call police and FBI to report him to which he repeated this time without verifying who I am.. While they are sending me a note via mail, I should expect someone to come to the door to arrest me! :) What a nut case and what are these people doing? I heard if you call these phone numbers, they get some money??? My mom got the same call a few weeks ago for my dad's business. She panicked but I calmed her down telling her IRS sends mail in, not calls like that and they said his name wrong as well. I just called FBI and was told that Perjury General Inspector at IRS is seeking information on these calls but the number given to me was wrong so I wrote the report on the FBI web site and they can send this information to IRS. My advise to all who get this kind or other calls from a party claiming the are government agency, bank etc.. Hang up and call them back if you doubt their legitimacy. Don't give out any personal information via the phone!!!- Caller: Call from IRS Prank
