I got a call from Stephanie, saying if we didn't get $3000 into the "IRS account" by 2:00pm my husband would be arrested and in jail for 12 months with no opportunity for getting out or getting a lawyer.  They wanted me to get cash, go to Western Union and call her back.  She would then give me instructions on how to send the money in correctly.

Scared me to death. I called the IRS, they said that it is a scam.

This person called my elderly father and told him he would be arrested today if he didn't pay the money. Our family scrambled to get the money together. With the banks being closed on Columbus Day, Mr. Johnson (an Indian sounding man) gave the option of going to Walmart and purchasing a Greendot card.  When I arrived at the Walmart the cashier thankfully warned me of various SCAMS and asked me if I was certain it was the IRS. After googling the number, I found this website.  Unfortunately, my brother who is blind had already made a payment to this number using a Greendot card. If you have any information on where I can report this fraud other than this website, please let me know. Innocent people are being taken advantage of.  I will check back to this site later!  Thank you!

P.S.  A person by the name of Kenneth Webster called my brother back and said that since his sister refused to pay so they were moving forward with legal proceedings. Note:  I did not "refuse" to pay. I asked if there were any other payment options. He said that it was the only way and then hung up the phone. Kenneth Webster gave an ID #Kenneth Webster an ID #57803.

Luckily I got on the phone for my father. My father had a heart attack about 3 months ago and he was so upset on the phone he had to give the phone to me because he thought he was about to have another heart attack.
I got on the phone and I thought it was weird I didnt have to verify who i was to him. He just started talking about what my dad needed to do to get him the money. I told him we never got any papers or anything and i said what happens if he doesnt have the money and he said the same speech about the police would be dispatched in two hours and he'd be put in jail for 3-6 months with no bail and no option for a lawyer. Knowing a little about the legal system just out of curiosity and the tv I knew the man was lying. I said I feel like something isnt right and this feels like a scam. As soon as I said that he hung up. All the names they used were alias' and Kenneth Webster is another one of their made up names that goes back to them. I did a little research about them and they are even being under investigation by the government. Don't worry about jail or anything about you but I am really sorry about what happened with your brother and the situation. This number is mean't to report the situation  1-800-366-4484 through the government. I called the non emergency police with my father earlier today and they said told me to call a local treasurer type thing to report it to them as well. I found the other number and the open investigation stuff through this site and doing a little research of my own. I hope this helped even a little bit.

I then told him I spent enough time on the line to track his telephone call through the skips he used and he'd be seeing me very soon.

I got that call too. Immediately thought it was fraud, because the IRS might be a nightmare, but they never are impolite or threaten you with jail. Great to see this post. I tried to call back, but could never connect. I'm gonna play this SOB when he calls me again.

I was called several times and messages were let for me to call right away because of taxes that I owed..I knew that I didn't owe any taxes but it upset me so bad that i started calling my attorney, however he did not answer. So I called my brother and he told me that the  IRS don't call people but they were so conviencing that  just wasn't thinking..The lady said her name was Michelle Brown and that the police would be here to arrest me within an hour with all of the paper..i told her that I would talk to my attorney and she asked for
my attorney's name and number and I gave it to her..She then told me it was too late for me to fix it because the police were already on the way.  in the mean time my attorney called me and assured me that it was a scam and no one was coming to arrest me. I think I didn't give her the answers she wanted  because she never asked me for money..EVERYONE PLEASE BE CAREFUL.

This is definitely a scam. I knew this could not be the IRS because they called first. If it was really the IRS, they would have come directly to my home and collected the money in person. Ha! No, really, they always communicate tax issues through the USPS in great detail. Relax.

I was at work and my husband called me to say we had received 6 calls from someone with a distinct accent (India maybe) saying he was calling from the IRS and it was imperative that I return the call at once.  Or, I could have my attorney call, but that it was urgent that I get right back to him.

First of all, I have had dealings with the IRS (failed business) and I told my husband that I know for a fact that the IRS does not contact you by phone, out of the blue like that.  They will send letters in the mail, and if you have to talk to them, you then make a phone call to talk with someone.

Then I went on line looking for information as to were this area code was.  From there I came to this website.  This was a man named "David Jackson", with a thick foreign accent, right.  These people need to be stopped!  This one person called my home for a total of 8 calls today.   He left a word for word (scripted, recorded, message.  I returned the call when I got home from work to tell him what a scammer he was, but of course there was no answer.

These bottom dwellers now have my cell number.  I have received two calls from this number today w/two voice mails saying exactly the same thing as the previous notations.  My husband and I know these are sick freak scammers, however my 87 year old mother did not and was very upset after receiving a telephone call from this same number.  These freaks need to be eliminated.....permanently.....  Thank goodness for caller ID...we do not answer and delete the voice mail, however the fragile elderly are vulnerable to this piece of trash.
