They people are very abusive and try to do anything to take your Credit Card, Account & Social numbers. Please report the calls to donotcall.gov and here.

I never answer my phone if I do not recognize the caller.  This is actually a calling card company's generic phone number for calling cards.  I did some digging and this number could be used by anyone trying to get a hold of you.  This is a generic number used to bypass privacy managers on telephones.

The man that called asked if he could leave a message with me and when the person answering could not find a pen, he asked why couldn't they get up and find a pen because they answered the phone.  This was very rude and they have repeatedly called back!

Call came in from Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, CA. When asked why they have a out of the area number, I was informed that the numbers are randomly selected from a bank of numbers.

I let AT+T's answering system get the call - he said his name was Bruce Hilton, never heard of him, next stop donotcall.gov

Noticed call on caller ID reading "Privacy Manager." When tried to call the number back, the reaponse wa it's disconnected.

So this is basically part of the service that I'm paying for - it's just coming up with a 415 area code & the words Privacy Manager which was throwing me off. Regardless of who calls or where they are, it will show up as 415...you have to press 1 to listen & the you can press 1,2,3 or 4 to accept, reject, etc. Check with your phone co. for specifics.

This is a feature you have on your phone if u dont accept blocked in comming calls. Just press 1 to hear their message, if u still dont want to answer, you decline the call, and the machine tells them you are UNAVAILABLE.

Received call from 415 545 0073 (privacy manager) and
415 545 0009 (Take A Message). No one said anything but I screamed in their ear and put on the phone recorder and they called again. My message says: "This number is on no call list. I don't answer the phone or return messages to anyone I don't know".  This message works real well if I have on the recorder. (duh)

I just got this too.  It was Sears calling me back, WTF!!  if we are paying for caller id feature through our ILEC or CLEC why doesn't it give us the correct #

 We're getting the phone number (415) 545-0073 to, when we answer the phone no answer on the other side, but then it turns to a recording which I hang-up promptly.

I have got over 8 calls from this number 415 545 0073 (privacy manager).I am on the do not call list but it doesn't help. A recording comes on 2 seconds after picking up the reciever,then I proptly hang up. very annoying!!.

I agree with james.  my husband reminded me that the privacy manager is screening the calls of people who have their caller-id blocked.  if you miss it and they don't leave a message, there isn't any way to find out who called.  if you answer, the recorded voice will tell you who it is and ask you if you want to accept the call.

I called the number and the recording says: Number disconnected or no longer in service.  They called my at 2:30am!!!

Received a call from 415-545-0073 01/28/08 at 3:15 AM and another 01/29/08 at 12:46 PM. I too am on the do not call list. I did not answer because of privacy manager but am wondering what type of data they could collect if you answer, or if this is simply a cold telemarketing call.

I've gotten as many as 3 calls a day from this #. I won't get any for a week or so and then they call my # again. I'm usually not home when they call. I see the # on my answering machine. I've tried to call their # back immediately after seeing it on caller I. I get the message that its a disconnected #. Twice I have actually answered their call to see if I can get any more info. As soon as I pick up the phone, the disconnects.
We are on the "do not call" list. I'll take the advice of some of the other folks on this forum and report it to donotcall.got

I forgot to mention in my post: Some people have said that "Privacy Manager" is their own phone trying to get a blocked, unidentified call through. My phone does not block unknown #s, so that isn't the case in my situation. I also get "Take a Message" calls.

The calls are a scam of some sort. My privacy manager intercepts the call and I listen to the recording of the person saying their name or their company name. It's never the same. Different company names. One was Legal Services, another was a hospital. I spoke with an agent at ATT and it's their Privacy Manager number. When a call comes and they don't want to unblock their number. They can choose to record their name instead. Reporting this to donotcall.gov won't help unless you get the actual number and name. The agent said the only thing I can do is turn off my Privacy Manager and file a police report to have my number trapped.

Same problem here as discussed by many. Started a week or two ago. Have privacy manager, on the do not call list, etc. but the calls continue.  A return call yields the message "disconnected number". Have not picked up the phone yet, and will not- why listen to a robot? Possible solution?: tell AT&T to fix this annoying problem or we will switch to cell phone use only.

Get these phone calls all the time but never answer because ever since I retired I get these junk calls, mail and email!  I wish they would stop!
