IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and ask for money. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail. - Tom_MReceived two calls today - the first very poorly recorded (haltingly pasted wording) in a female voice identified as Nicki Johnson, working for the IRS and advising me (or my attorney) to call 415-799-9722 about a time-sensitive issue. The second was a better quality female voice recording (no obvious recording-pasting) - same message... My Caller-ID confirmed the recording number......Thanks to CWG40 for the links. I reported the incidents.

- AGReceived call from 1-415-799-9722 3 days in a row, up to twice a day. Left a poorly automated voicemail sounding like a female robot claiming to be Agent Nicky Johnson from the IRS and requested I call before they took action. When I called, a man who barely spoke english asked for my number, I asked him who he was and where I was calling he said he was "Agent Robert Wilson" from the IRS. I hung up, no way that is his name. Yea, right! I dont know what they are trying to scheme, but dont fall for it!

- EnoughIsEnoughI received 4 phone calls on Saturday, 03/14/2015 -- recorded message to call Nicole RIchards of the Internal Revenue Service. Don't disregard this message. You or your representative should call before they take action against me. I got another of these recorded messages today. Called the number and a man who was heavily accented (sounds like the Philippians). He would not put me through to this woman. He insisted on wanting my name and phone number. I refused to give him the information and hung up on him.

The callers' name was given and an ID number. we were told a certified letter was sent and we did not respond so all of our assets would be frozen,; debit card, charge card, bank account. When we asked to talk to a hire level person, he hung up. He was very hard to understand. We believe he wanted us to give our credit card info to have the lawyer help us.
