Called looking for my ex wife

received a call and message.  COULDN'T understand a word of the message.  Message was left by a woman with very thick accent....seriously....not a word

It is a scam trying to get money from you.  Claim you have pending court actions against you and say if you pay them they will stop this from happening.  Looked in to it and I have nothing like that.  Plus they couldnt even tell me the what county it is filed in.  When I asked for them to send me something in the mail they didnt even know my address.  Then threatened that the sheriff would show up at my house and they would pursue me at my work and home.  Its all a scare tactic to get money from people.  DO NOT send them anything

This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, etc. all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

These scammers with  a heavy Indian accent has been calling be incessantly for the last two days. Why don't we send the FBI after these scum bags????
