- Jeff replies to name| 2 repliesThese a$$hats have been calling my number (which my wife and I have had for years) looking for someone we've never even *heard* For like, six months they've been doing this!
I'm so livid, (I'm on hold with them right now - 44 minutes and counting!), that I Googled their number and found this place.
I’ve contacted them twice before to let them know they've got the wrong number. We still get message from those idiots all the time.
I'm going to complain the BBB and inform all of their competitors - they can take me to pitches and I'll let the prospective clients know of the organizational incompetence of these a$$clowns. - jade| 1 replyStill these ridiculous people call. Only this time this women called @ 6:15am!!.......and forgot to disconnect the call to my voice mail as she conversed with her other co-workers about how she wasn't "dying" for me to call back (like, as if!!)Then suddenly she realized she called a different time zone at 6 in the morning. She sounded like she was having a near-conniption and went on to a co-worker about how it was an innocent mistake and anyone could make one.
How about the "innocent mistake" of calling my number after I've told them numerous times that there is no one here by that name? And the many more "innocent mistakes" of calling and keeping you on hold or just hanging up??
C'mon people! What kinda collection agency are you?? Get your act together and do the research. Go after the real debt-dodgers and leave us innocent people alone!!

- LisahI've been getting calls from them for 5 months now, but they aren't leaving any messages anymore. I guess they are just trying to find out what time of the day I answer the phone. No use in blocking their number because they use so many different numbers, it would be impossible to register them all. I have to admit, they don't seem to be the sharpest tool in the toolbox of collection agencies.
I've been using www.canadian-money-advisor.ca for advise on how to deal with this. They have a great deal of posts on their forum on collection agencies and what you can do. Very helpful - I highly recommend if you have no where else to turn.- Caller: Common Collections Ltd.

- Losers| 9 repliesI got a call from a lady stating that if I do not call her back right away that legal action would be taken against me. This is from dept from TD visa. I was 20 and they gave me a visa for $7500 , so i was young nd went wild , i was making payments but then it got to hard. I advised Visa of the situation and that went no where. So now this lady is calling and bcause of interest it is now at 9500 , i have told her many times i want to clear this up but her only responce is pay it in full.. WTF who has 10000 just sitting around. So mainly i wanna know can this go to court and have ne legal effect on me?

- D replies to LosersYou don't have to pay it in full. ALthough, it would be wise. Ask to speak to his or her manager or someone else. Agree to make a payment plan with them where you'll send them a certain amount per month. Them wanting the full amount is just to scare you.
- One of the same... replies to Losers| 1 replyCheck to see if the statute of limitations has expired. You may not even be legally obligated to pay this off. If that's the case, DON'T send them anything, as doing so may just renew the limitation period.
- J. replies to LosersDo not send them a CENT. They probably have no right to even collect the money. You don't own them anything, and they are lying to you. They are trying to scam you. They have your information, but that doesnt mean you own THEM the money, and they dont represent anyone you owe money to.
Liars and cheats. - FrustratedDoes anyone know what kind of debt this collection agency deals with? I have more that one debt. So i don't know if this is for one of my credit cards, my car, etc. I'm a stay at home mom, haven't work in over 2 years, just had my youngest 2 months ago and unfortunatly couldn't pay any of my loans, credit cards, etc. And got so far behind on the car payment, there was no way i could catch up. But we have moved and changed our phone number since, so i have no idea how these idiots got my number since it is under my husbands name and we don't even have the same last name.
So i don't want to call them back, for obvious reasons, but i would like to have an idea for what debt they are collecting for. Thanks. - beanie| 1 replyI have been getting calls from 416-297-7077 but I don't even have any outstanding debts ever. should I return their calls. they have been calling my cell phone and now they have my work number somehow. what should i do?

- TheJuleofDenile replies to jadeA lot of them keeping calling "your number" because sometimes the last name is the same, and they don't understand, that they have the wrong person. Doens't matter how many times you tell the person, they still don't get it. According to all Collection Agencies we are all deadbeats and not only do none of us pay our bills but we have the adacity not to want to pay someone else's bills.
Most of these agencies do not understand English,~~ or the English language, not that they are not "English speaking" but cannot understand the basics of language.
I had one bothering me for months, and didn't matter how many times I faxed them copies of the payments, which were made even before they went to the agency, Computer glich they called it. They still told me to go ahead and pay, and then work it out with the company. Best thing to do is find out who has "sold" the overdue account to them and go after them. Takes time but better then the complete and utter harrassement from these buffons.
When looking for a person with my last name, they hit on me first, and assume I know everyone who happens to share the same last name. - JA lady whose name is Tasha kept calling my home and said I have an account of Bank of Montreal, and asked my detail personal information. I refused her. Please kick this bug off.

- JI'd love to pay back my debt but I've been out of work for 8 months and prior to that took a job with a start-up that's almost bankrupt. One year since full employment...so I defaulted by missing one AMEX payment and now these jerks get belligerent which is against the law: "Why are you special? Why don't you have to pay your debts?" I'm not - I will when I can but going from 80K to 60K to Canada's pathetic EI system is difficult. Jerks. What kind of weasel takes one of these jobs.
This is the third of 4th collection agent that has bought my AMEX debt. Clearly there's nothing they can do about the 9,000 I owe or they would go beyond harrassing phone calls. It's a recession A$$hat!- Caller: Common Collections

- Anonymthis agency has been calling my home for months to harrass both myself and my son. My son was issued a cc a couple of years ago (some stupid person gave him a cc without checking his credit) and built up a debt. He's been out of work for over a year and has sold all of his possessions just so he could make rent pmts and now has moved back home. I recently lost my father and have been dealing with the harrassing phone calls from Debbie saying that they can take legal action and that they'll find out where he was holding a part time job and contact his employer. He's not working anywhere now and I'm curious if there's any steps they can actually take. They call here, like a pp said, at 6 in the morning and dont' care. I just got another phone call from them with the guy totally misprouncing my son's name - I told him he had the right number but the wrong name and the guy hung up the phone. Right now, I'm the one who is always answering their calls, I'm totally stressed out and want them to stop. Faxing them won't help. The fact that my kid has no job and no money coming in means nothing to them - they want payment right away. My son used to work for a credit collections agency and says that when he does have money - it won't go to these bozo's, it'll go onto the cc. How do we know these guys are on the up and up and not just scam artists trying to get money from innocent people. Any info would be appreciated.

- Anonym| 1 replywas just reading the Canadian SOL and other info re: these companies. The fact that Debbie has been calling and harrassing me (not the person in debt) and threatening me - looks like I can press charges against her and the company as legally they are not supposed to do that. It was quite 'eye opening' reading the info and this company is not going by the laws stated in Canada and if charged, you would probably win, not them. Just google 'Statute of Limitations for debt in Canada' - you'll be amazed at what you read and how this company is not obeying the rules of the country.

Scott - LYNA young woman called and asked if I know a "Mary" at the house next door. I was immediately suspicious and asked who was calling...she became belligerent and would not identify herself or her company. She kept asking if I know "Mary" at # 185. I advised her that at the very least, what she is doing is unethical, and possibly illegal. She hung up. I then googled the number and found this site. By the way, there is no Mary next door, and hasn't been in the many years I've lived here, which makes it even more suspicious!

- WRONG PERSONI just got a phone call here at my work for my ex-husband. Jacqueline ???? from the phone #:416-297-7077 x 260 called looking for him and said it was "A personal business matter" and my ex gave this phone number where I work as the place where my he works. I was in shock and at a loss for words as to why she was calling me and what she said about him working here. Ex and I have not spoken for months. He has never worked where I work. I am still preplexed but have found out by reading this and other sights that these people are really agressive and HUGE liers. She was very rude and asked if I could get him a message. I told her that we are no longer married and I never see him. He was out of work for 1-1/2 years and self employed so he was not eligable for unemployment benefits and I worked pay cheque to paycheque and was cut down to a 4 day work week. We have settled our divorce and good luck trying to get anything out of him he spends money faster then poop through a goose. I paid him his 1/2 of the matramonial house minus my 1/2 of his debt. GOOD F***IN LUCK GETTING ANYTHING OUT OF HIM!!!!!
