- Shireen ShahI also received a call from AIL communicating they had received my resume in response to an ad posted on Craigslist. What was meant by "Fees?"
- AnnaI got a call from this number and looked it up here before answering. The guy that left a message said his name is Brian D'Sousa, and here you guys have Brian Traboulay? I called back and left a message. He called again today and asked why I never called him back. I told him that I did, but the extension he left me was for a different name (first name and last name). Anyways, he told me that he saw my resume on monster and I asked "which position", but he didn't answer me. He then asked me to write down the address for the interview. I asked him if he can email it to me cause I was outside walking with my daughter. He said that it will only take a second. I laughed and repeated that I was not home and did not have a pen or paper. He said that he couldn't "email" me because it's against their policy. I asked "why" and if the company was legit. He said that "people have abused the system". I laughed again and said "if you are a real company, then I applied for a position by email, then you should be able to send me an email". He kept saying he couldn't, so I told him never to call me again. The nerve of these companies! I want to know how he found my resume if it is NOT a searchable item on monster?
- A guy who went for an interviewAIL is a real company - they sell life insurance. They contact people who leave their resumes up on Monster and other job boards to see if they would like an interview. The reason they contact so many people is because it costs them next to nothing. Like any direct sales company, AIL does not pay their agents a base salary, they strictly pay commissions. As a result it costs them very little to hire you to see if you are capable of selling their services. If you aren't good at it, they don't care because they haven't paid you more than you've brought in. That said, if you are good at selling, the position offers lucrative rewards, it's a high risk high reward industry. If you aren't interested in a job that only pays commissions don't agree to an interview, but if it's something you're interested in, you're almost guaranteed to be hired.

- CWJust got a call from some woman in a feeble attempt to recruit me. When I told her that I was not interested, there was a long pause, and her demeanor changed, like she was about to cry.
- BobThey called me last night, introduced as representing Industrial Alliance.
They knew my home address and our names as well as my wife's work phone number + extenstion.
BTW my home phone# is not listed on canada411.ca or 411.com, other online directories list our old address Somehow they managed to match my wife contact with her insurance. This is scarry. Have Industrial Alliance records been compromised? Or we really have problem with "stolen identity' - KiddoThe lady called me for job interview about sales agency which I never applied.

- Dirk Diggler| 1 replyI got a call from 416-483-2520, someone saying they were from American Income Life and saw my resume on Monster.ca. I've had this call a few times and every time I say I'm not interested but this time I played along. I set up an interview but the caller wouldn't give me an address, only saying the interview was in North York at Weston and Lawrence or York Mills or Wilson. The guy didn't know, he was making stuff up. He was supposed to email me a confirmation and he still has not. I tried to get as much information as I could before researching this company. Turns out it is pretty much a scam, 100% commission based sales of next to worthless 3rd part insurance products (something anyone can buy from a reputable insurance agent or direct off the www) and you have to pay monthly licensing fees to AIL, to the tune of $375.00 and up, based on your sales. It's basically the job I had when I was 15 selling Diners Club cards over the phone from some boiler room across from the Eaton's Center. So the more you sell, the more they take and there is no limit to how much they will take. Bottom line, I cancelled my Monster account and added this number to the blocked list on my cell phone. Is AIL a scam? Yes. Is Monster worthless as a tool to advance your career? Yes. But they still have all my personal information which is a little disconcerting.
