dea - 22 Mar 2007This # 416 630 2172 keeps calling me in the past 2 weeks! The first couple of times, I missed the call and then on saturday they called @ 11:06am who does that? When you pick up, you hear faint beeps or nothing or if you call them back you get the newspaper call centre voicemail which is always full. They have even called @ 9pm at night. Don't pick up, this one is not worth your time. It seems that they want you to pick up the phone but I'm not sure for what purpose??

This is an auto dialler that calls your house and if there is no telemarketer available to talk to you (because they are on with other poor folks who answered the phone) it just beeps or lays silent. It will call you forever if you don't get through and ask to be removed from the dialing list...

My family has been receiving phone calls from the same 416-630-2172 number which our caller ID states as Nwspapr Call CN. We not only received a call today, but have been receiving calls from them for the past month all day and at night up until 11:30pm!
Today, I finally answered the call and found a man (I can't even say gentleman) who stated that he was calling form the Toronto SUN. Our subscription had apparently lapsed and I can renew for $1.30 or $0.85 if I renewed by credit card. I was stunned, as we just renewed our subscription with the SUN a month ago to include the Saturday paper as well as the Sunday SUN.
I used a pretext on him and stated that I was not the owner of the house and could not make that decision. He then biligerantly told me to make the (a-hem) decision for the owner. He then went on to say you have a credit card don't you? ... then get it out and get the paper for cheaper.
As he took another puff of his cigarette, I realized this was not a normal call centre call and said "as a private investigator I will not give out that information to any yahoo who calls!" ... he then hung up in my ear!
I immediately called the Toronto Sun to ask if this was really an employee of theirs making calls like this. To my amazement it is a third party call centre they hired to renew subscriptions.
They have been receiving tons of phone calls from other people who received the same call and were annoyed with the brutality of this man's telephone manner.
I then asked if I could write head office and she gave me the address as follows:

333 King Street East
Toronto, ON
M5A 3X5
I also pressed *57 to trace the call. Be it the fact that I am a private investigator, but I do not believe this man would be very forthcoming with giving the Toronto SUN credit numbers he has obtained! *57 traces this call and allows the Police department to look into this further.
For now, I would appreciate it if anyone receives a phone call from 416-630-2172, that they email us at debbie@privateeyes.net so we can build a case against this idiot!

ccmuff - 26 Jun 2008Hi Debbie ... Got a call from this number juat a few minutes after 9pm ... We have been getting a call from this number on a regular basis. We don't subscribe to the Toronto Sun and have spoken with them on several occassion because they keep dropping off the paper then billing us for it. They have been billing us for paper we never subscribed to in the first place. Then we call them to take us off their list and stop sending us paper. This would stop for a few days then it will start again. This whole process is quite annoying and frustrating. I hope you're able to shut these people down.

They stop calling for a while but then a couple of months later it starts back up. Now I just pick it up and hang up right away. What's the sense of asking anymore!?

Last night I recieved yet another call at 9:12 pm at night. I picked up the reciever and clicked it back down. The caller left a message:
"You guys are losers. You need to get a life. You don't just hang up the phone on people. Bumbleclot (Which is a derogatory Jamaican swear word)". I was completely appalled by the message left, and tried calling the call center back to speak to a supervisor but only got a recording.

They called at least once a day for a month (see comment above) and finally one night when I did pick up the lady had an offer for the NP and asked her to take me off the list immediately or I would be filing a complaint with the crtc.......no calls since fortunately. it's harassment

Cam - 11 Apr 2007Got my 12th call in 10 days from these people. Last call I actually got one of the retarded people who work there to speak and demanded I be removed from the list. They hung up on me (I really wasn't all that pleasant) and have received around 5 calls from them since. If it really is the National Post doing some telemarketing, lets get the number for their customer relations people and start leaving them some messages about this unbelievable annoyance that they are inflicting on people.
