My Aunt got scammed on 10/10/08 from this number.  The weird part is the person calling claimed to be her grandson and they even had his exact name.  He said he was in an accident with a rental car and needed $5000 wired to him in Canada.  My Aunt lives in FL.  Without checking, my Aunt wired the money thinking her grandson was in trouble.  She finds out that the grandson (who lives in NY) was never in Canada.  She has no recourse.  The police were called but since she wired the money and didn't use a credit card there is no way to stop it.  They even convinced her to send another $1000 because he needed to fly home.  They also put a person on the phone pretending he was a police officer.  She was in a panic and that's how they got to her.

Received a call from someone who called me grandpa. She said that she was in Canada with three girlfriends and ran out of money. Asked me to wire her $2500 through Walmart. After verifying that my granddaughter was in fact at home, I contacted the police. Two hours later, she called again. This time it was from the number 416-777-7795. I notified the police again.

Man called and said he was Officer Albert Ross (probably bogus) from National Security in customs about a package coming from Canada.  He said it was from  from a sweepstakes company and they inspected it looking for drugs or paraphernalia.  Found 2 checks for $250,000, asked the Department of Treasury or IRS to inspect it, and he said they found it to be authentic.  They wanted to deliver it by next Tuesday using the Brinks Armored Car Company, and had I heard of them.  Then he said in order to deliver it, I needed to pay a duty tax, today, of 1%= $2,500.  He told me it needed to go through a Federal office.  I asked him what kind of federal office and he said "Money Gram"--yah-right.  At this point, in mid-sentence,the phone went dead.

I called BBB before he could call back.  She said the number referenced seemed to be out of Jackson Hole, Wyoming--don't think so!!!  She tried to call it back and only got a busy signal.  While she did that, I googled the phone number and found this site.

Google and 800notes.com needs a GOLD STAR for making this kind of search possible!!!

My grandparents received a call from this number on 1/16/09.  The woman caller answered the phone with a friendly "Grandma!".  She claimed that she had gone shopping with friends in Thunder Bay and had spent too much money.  They need $2800 to get back home.  Thankfully my grandparents don't support frivolous spending and told her to figure it out!

Rec'd a call this a.m. from this number....He said "Grandma"  I responded yes.  He said would I promise not to tell anyone in the family about this call as he was in some trouble.  I said o.k. He asked did I know which grandson I was talking to and I responded Yes Adam.  He told me he was given some tickets to a concert which gave backstage access after concert. Said there was a party and he had a few drinks.  ( I was beginning to get suspicious as I detected an accent that my grandson does not have.  Said he was in Canada and after party had an accident with rental car.  Said he was charged with DUI but the judge was leinent with him and said he would drop charges but he had to pay for cars damaged.  He told me he had $800 dollars but would need more.  I now was absolutely positive this was a scam because my grandson wouldn't have the funds to go to Canada much less $800 floating around.  I asked where his baby was then didn't call her name and he said not here, I asked same question again, same response.  I asked 3rd time and he hung up.  All appempts to call this number back are met with a busy signal.

Got a call from this number at 8:40am on 1/23 from a lawyer about a Sweepstakes win.  Wanted me to wire $2600 to Western Union to cover insurance on the check to be delivered.  Another poster on this site mentioned that this was a scam and a bad check was sent.  I suspected this too and hung up.  I don't send money to anyone that I don't know.

A call back to this number gives a busy signal.

corpricopany sent a check in my name/just to be a "mystery Shopper", Cashed the check at my bank and proceeded with the funds to evaluate the following locations. 1)sent 3,400 dollars back to the companies treasurer. Then went to Sears to spend 20 dollars, then went to
wal-mart to spend 40.00 dollars. then I sent my evaluation
forms along with the receipts. A few days latter my checking account was $3,774 dollars overdrawn. I have tried every every # and address of company to no avail. So I got screwd by a guy named Michael MYERS AND Laura Simmons. The Company's name is: corpi Corporate Research Internantional. The company's phone is 1-647-428-6942 and 1-877-621-3160. And of course they do not work.

I just got a call from this number today!!!!  A young man called, saying that he was my grandson and needs money to pay for a car accident he and 2 friends were in.  He's pretty bruised and sore but okay and he needs $5,000 sent to a Walmart in Canada so that he can pay his share and get his passport back to come home to the U.S.  When asked why he was in Canada, he says that he got a girl pregnant and he's trying to convince her not to have an abortion.

I was lucky, I remembered to ask him a question that only my grandson would know the answer to and he couldn't give me an answer.  I would suggest that anyone else receiving a call like this would do the same, ask them a question only they would know the answer to, and don't give them too much information, like correct names of relatives or friends.

these people called me and told me that they where u.s. customes and had a mysterious package with my name on it so they opened it. they said it had two checks inside that were very very large. he asked me if i had played the lottery lately and being the smarty butt that i am, i told him yes i did up in new york a couple of months ago so i acted very excited. he then told me i had won the grand prize. i have never been to new york so i knew he was lying to me. he asked me for my bank account number so they could direct deposit the prize. iwhat i said next left him speachless. i told him instead of sending it to me i wanted him to donate it to a very good charity of his choice because i had millions and didnt need it. he started studdering then said he was sorry that he bothered me....the joke was on him for trying to scam an old lady.
