This is the phone number for CIBC's fraud monitoring division.  If CIBC suspects fraudulent activity either on your debit or credit card they will call from this number to investigate.  They will ask questions to confirm your identity first and then ask you if certain transactions were actually performed by yourself or by a potentially fraudulent individual.  They usually leave a callback number of 1-877-208-8801 if you have any concerns.

can you please tell me, I opened up my pc account last month and I just completed two wire transactions into my account from USA and when I went to do a wire myself they froze my account for no reason and I could not use my bank card or add money to my credit card today.

I have to call a man named Merza tomorrow who is very difficult to understand because of his heavy accent.

got a call from this number looking for someone else. I was told that "melissa" had given them this contact number.
I called back on skype and my call was 1) not picked up, then 2) re-directed to v-mail and not picked up, then 3) told that as my number could not be verified, my call was refused.

Just got a call, sounds like fraud.

Re the number 416-784-6149 - I called this number today, July 15, 2009 and was advised that the number is "NOT IN SERVICE".

Did you contact PC Financial directly?  Their number is on the rear of your banking card.  I would contact them directly to inquire about this.  The PC Fraud Squad froze my bank account when they saw a number of transactions that occured while I was on a holiday in Montreal.  Surprisingly, when I got home the first thing I did was access my account on-line and see if there was a reason for them freezing my account.  As I was sitting at my desk looking through my account transactions I get this call from 1-416-784-6149.  They called me an asked several pertinent  questions related to the heavy activity on my account.  They do have security questions that they ask you that you should be the only one that has the answer to as well as your PC Bank.  They straightened the whole thing out for me in less than a minute.

CIBC does not have any records of this number. Do not give any information - this is a fraud.

I got a call from this number today. It's CIBC fraud invetigation team or smth. Tehre was fraud on my card last week and this guy Edam phoned today to say that investigation was complete and i'll be reimbursed on Monday.
I think CIBC does not have a record of this number ( as per someone's posting earlier) because it might be an outgoing call centre number. I worked at a call centre befor and in-boud & outbound numbers are different. I didn't know what our outbound number appeared like on customer's phones.

I escalated an issue to Customer Care regarding how badly CIBC sucks. This was the number that showed up from Customer Care, calling to discuss the issue with me.
