- LinCaller display showed (416) 847-8742. Looked up reverse numbers. Unpublished Landline Toronto. Did not answer. No message left. Getting cynical now. Any ideas which scam this time ?
- dragothey call here daily no one answers no messages wer'e in n.s.
- s228They call me daily as well. I called the number and a recording comes on saying they are a marketing company calling on behalf of ScotiaLife Financial.
- rjmI have been receiving calls from this number. They never leave a message and it is different times of the day. Very annoying. I don't answer and will use my call blocking feature with Bell Canada to block them next time they call. Very annoying. My number is unpublished. I am not sure where they got it. Even more annoying!
- Caller: don't know
- Kira| 2 repliesThey call me daily too.
I wonder if all the lines they call are Bell customers. I am.
It could be one of the following:
1. It is Bell's automatic dialer - minutes are getting “used up” faster this way, so that you are forced to upgrade your plan (or buy more minutes if you are a pay-as-you-go subscriber).
2. Bell wants people to start using and get hooked on their number blocking and other features (rjm works for Bell marketing on-line... just kidding ;-) )
3. As per s228 above: ScotiaLife got a lousy service from a lousy marketing company. - marwellget a call every day between 4-6pm - I screen all my calls and no one ever leaves a message just disconnects. I'm sick of it and the caller would be paying long distance charges to call - I'm in the 613 area code! How do we make it stop?
- AnnoyedSecond call from that number in two days. Just renewed my mortgage with Scotiabank so it probably is them trying to sell me MORE insurance or a credit card or something. It's not enough that they are getting almost 5% interest -- they always seem to want more. The constant calls are annoying and why don't they just leave a message and if I want the damn insurance I'll call them back! BTW I'm a Telus customer from Alberta so I don't think its a Bell scam.

- Phone WatcherI've been getting these calls fairly constantly over the last few days, so I called it from my voip line so they wouldn't get my number. It's Optima Communications International calling on behalf of Scotialife Financial, a division of Scotiabank that sells term life insurance.
- Caller: Optima Communications International
- Call type: Telemarketer
- meIt only rang twice this time and they hung up before my voice mail even kicked in, and they are calling my cell
- Hoping I Can HelpI've been getting phone calls every day for three weeks from these guys & they don't leave a message so I called them back - surprise surprise their mailbox is full - don't give up though - dial *0 (star zero) and it goes to another covering extension (real person!) and tell them to take your phone number off their calling list. I did this and they were quite understanding and nice - "Brenda" said she took my number off their internal calling list so I won't receive any more calls. Don't know if it will work for sure, but it's worth a try!
- Caller: Optima Comm Int'l for ScotiaLife Financl
- Call type: Telemarketer
- AtheistA young lady called from Optima for Scotiabank about insurance. I listened to her script because I know talk-time helps her. I was nice to her and kindly said no. They call about 3 times a year. Same old bu***hit. Getting angry will not help the situation though.
- High IronI too get this call from Scotia Life. I have also asked them to stop, with no success. I am also a Telus customer so there is unlikely any Bell scam going on.
- Caller: Unknown
- kenman1717this number calls daily. most often its around 6pm. sometimes its in the middle of the day, other times its 9 at night. i'm in Alberta, use both Telus and Shaw, number comes over both phones daily.
- mikycalled @ 8:30pm, some guy said "hello" then disconnected..
- Caller: idk
- enuf alreadyScotiabank customer for 40 years. If I want their product I will ask for it. I don't need them having their agents call me in the middle of my dinner every day until I talk to them!!
- DavidI get that it's from Allstream.
- yup me too!Yup - been getting all kinds of calls multiple times a day for eons. they don't leave a message or they leave a hang up. Very frustrating. They can call anywhere from waking me up early in the morning at 9am Saturdays, Sundays and/or days off - to 9pm at night which is a ridiculous time to call. It's ridiculous especially when I'm registered on the do not call list!
I have a whole list of 'em! These are just from the past week, and they all call multiple times a day! Crazy!

Funny - I just moved, and although my number didn't change and therefore my status on the do not call list didn't change, PLUS I have an unlisted phone number!. Still makes you wonder if Bell is selling their phone lists - pretty co-incidental that although I have received many of these calls for a while - the majority started after I moved!- Caller: 416-847-8742 & More!
- me tooIm with Rogers and this number calls me as well, I've never answered because I didn't know who it was but it just kept calling! Glad I now know its bogus:) Blocked!!!:)
