Got a call and identified thru call-waiting. Probably a telemarketer.

416-947-0000  calls my phone at least twice a day and there is nothing or no one there.  Tried calling it back and it's a blank, doesn't even ring.

This number called me several times but no one ever spoke. Tried callling back but like the other person states, no one there - no rings. I hate fake calls.

ID'ed number via call waiting...no one there...

2 or 3 times a day, for months & months, we've been getting these calls. Yesterday I hung up on them before they were able to hang up on me. Today, for the first time in ages, they didn't call. Hopefully that is a cause-&-effect type of thing, & they won't bug us any more. But that seems highly unlikely.

I guess this means there are sleazebags in Canada too, eh?

Like the previous post, we too have been getting calls from this number.  There is never anyone there.  I tried to block the number, but I am unable to even through the phone company.  

Talk about frustrating.

I got a call today from this number and there was actually a person this time!  She said she was from the Children's Wish Fund (or something similiar) and I told her to put my number on the do not call list.  Normally there is no one on the other end of the line, so I was really surprised.  But it was probably a scam seeing as the number is for the New Zealand Consulate...

Called x 3 this week,,no answer after saying hello..

12/12/07 Received a call from this number at 9:13am but no messages was left.

12/13/07 Received two calls from this number one call at 10:55am and then again at 4:34pm.  I answered the second call with "hello" and was hung up on.

12/13/07  Started getting these phantom calls this week.  No one there, and no one answers when you call them back...  

Alaska

Getting calls twice a day from this number for a week now. Never anyone on the other end.

i've been geting a call from that number for about 3 days now.  i googled the number and found this site.  has anyone figured it out?

Are these calls targeting Alaska? Valdez?

We have also been getting these phone calls almost every single day...cannot call it back and it is from 416-947-0000.  I'm wondering who we can report this to and what can be done about it.
I'm in Soldotna, Alaska.

Have been getting these calls twice a day for months....always at 9:00am and 6:00pm. It rings 3 times and hangs up.  What can be done to stop this?

At 16:43 Dec 11, 2007, I too recieved a call from this same phone line.  I am curious to know if this is a Land Line, a Pay Phone, a Cell Phone or an Iridium Military Phone.  I am also curious about how close all of our phone numbers are to one another.  This may be a Family member/Spouse/Long lost friend/or Private Investigator for any one of the above, that thinks they may know a particular persons phone number, and are trying different combinations of a similar Alaskan Number, and are just happening to get through to us.  Unfortunately, this does not explain two important factors:

1) Hanging up on us when we answer politely. And then continuing to call.

2) The Phone Number being Disconnected/Unavailable/Blank/No Answer when we try to call that Number back.

Just thinking out loud. I will check back in One Week, and then Two Weeks to see if there is any progress in Resolution or Reconnaissance. Good luck all, and hope that somebody can bring closure to this issue for the rest of us.  :)

yea I've seen this number on the caller id several times, but we rarely pick up the landline.  Today (Sunday) I decided to answer and it was a man calling from some police safety something wanting to thank me for donating 30 dollars to the police safety whatever.  I told him I didn't, and he insisted that he had me down for donating in 2006.  The only donation I've made at all recently was 30 dollars to the breast cancer fund this year.  When I told him again that I didn't make the donation he hung up on me.  This man also asked for my by my first name.  I think it may be an advertising company verifying my name with my number.
May I also add that I also live in Alaska.

UPDATE TO ABOVE POST:  I just used the online chat option at the Bell Canada  Customer Service Web Site.  www.bell.ca  They were very helpful and said it would be passed on to higher authorities.  EVERYONE PLEASE ALSO DO THIS.
