How, exactly can they stop third parties from calling you, particularly when those third parties change phone numbers more frequently than people change their sox?

I also got the call that initially states they are calling to verify your Google business listing. However when the caller gets on the line I asked them to identify themselves and they then admit they are not Google, but were just trying to identify my Google business name, number and address and then start asking if I want to get listed on the first page of Google for associated keywords for my business. The call is deceptive and the business is a scam!!!!
   

They call multiple times a day and never leave a message. Shows up on Caller ID as "US Cellular"

Called twice yesterday, I picked one up by accident. Call was deceptive. They never identified themselves at the beginning. Called to verify my Google listing. I thought it was Google. When the rep fumbled a few questions and I asked if it was Google she said they were a third party contractor that works for or with Google to place ads on the first page. But she didn't want to give their company name. Said Google doesn't offer this service but they contract with Google to do so. Wanted $199 a month for a guaranteed placement on the first page within 5-7 business days. I know Yelp and some other companies offer similar services but this one was suspicious.

Called 2x yesterday but never left a message.  Wondered why called idcsaid newport inn ?  Probably spoofing.

Just added to blocked caller list.

Managed to not pick up this time - no message but no reason to believe it's not the same old scam and it hung up on the answering machine

They keep using the same old number, Slim. Surely the phone carriers have the resources to trace and block - if not them how about the NSA?

Phone companies are considered "Common Carriers", with "open access".
Essentially, that means they are open to the public ... no discrimination for any reason, unless the company is notified by legal authority, after the customer has been found guilty of certain crimes.

The REAL answer is to buy a phone blocker ... particularly if the scammer is repeatedly using the same number!

Caller ID shows from Newport TN this time.  I get a call from a different city about the same time every day.  When I pick up, it's some idiot robocall wanting to verify my Google listing.  Unfortunately, I have a cheapie cell phone with a number from some schmuck running an at-home business, and he probably scammed his clients, because even after a year, I'm still getting calls looking for this SOB.

Caller was scomputer until I poked the right number to get to a live person.  Then Max came on and said he was from Lexington Group in Southern California.  He said that they were affiliated with Google.  I told him to stop calling.

I have not been able to bet on the do not call site to report these people for several weeks.  Is something wrong with the site or did somebody jam my computer????

They called to verify my listing and they told me THEY ARE APART of Google. I asked again and he said they were.
Then I got a hunch they weren't by the shading sales talking they were doing
