Text message in the early morning hours, 3:20 and 3:47am related to a Craig's list ad in New York. A scam attempt.

I received a message from the same number in regards to my craigslist ad. The original message looks as if it might have been triggered by a bot - it merely echoed the title of my ad and the cost.

When i replied asking  if they were interested the response contained poorly written english. The person said that they were at work, and I quote: "am at work right now on sea, am an oceanography am willing to pay your asking price".... the message continued that they were willing to pay via check and that they would add $50 for me to hold the item while they arranged pickup.

1. i posted only in indiana, not california which is the 424 area code of the number in question
2. i didn't ask their occupation

Everything felt wrong to me so I added the number to my block list.

I posted in Mississippi and got the same text..

My add just put on and I got text from same number above and same text on Oct  2- 2013
Who that is person and what he doing for ????

Same as above he said he was working and wanted to mail me a check and then have me send the rest of the money to the movers. I told him to [***] off and his grammer and punctuation was terrible.  Scam artist for s

This number has been identified as a known Craigslist scammer and total do***e bag !  Insist that you reach them at numerous different email addresses such as bellotivivian@gmail.com,  whittnuv555@gmail.com,  rbccarobert1@gmail.com, craigjorgenson853@yahoo.com, milemags6@gmail.com, Diane Wackerbarth, Estivan Ucello, just to name a few from the past week.


text from many different phone numbers to also include 919-374-8197, 571-303-9397, 971-231-4863.  Always do a Google search on anyone insisting that you contact them at a different email address instead of using the "reply" button from your Craigslist ad.

I got the exact  text. I almost got fooled  a  while back  by something of the same game.I was sent a  check for way ovet the asking amount then was asked to deposit the check and send back tje difference..hahaha are you kidding me? Get real you asinine jerks...

same fraud attempt today on craigslist.  "i'll pay more for the item if you take my check.  The check will be foe more than the amount so send me the overage"

said he was an oceanographer at sea.
