It a fraudulent charge. Change your acct number at the bank. I am doing it as we speak. They (web rev svc) are using your acct # and aba # to debit. That means they have your info and changing your debit card is not good enough.

I just check my bank account and found the same charge!  Called the bank and they've removed it and I'm submitting a fraud/dispute form.

We're in CA and got hit by John Smith on 5/27 as well.  We've been dreading the day the sheer inconvenience of not being able to use debit cards and online payments would land on our doorstep.  Have already disputed and opened new accounts and will be switching online payments to a credit card or maybe even just go back to ch..ch.ch...checks.  I think I have a dusty box of them with an address from four years ago somewhere around here...that guy really sucks!

I've checked with my bank, and the bank this debit originated from, and a service that deals with Web Revenue Service. Supposedly it was an error. You can get your bank to stop the payment and get the money put back in your account, as well as any fees that were charged as a result. I ended up with $70 worth of insufficient check fees due to that debit. My concern is, how do we know what this company was actually up to. I was told the company provides collections for businesses, and that they were merely testing accounts to confirm they had the right accounts. So how does that end up debiting our accounts, if they were only testing? And if this company can do something as idiotic as this, how do we know it won't happen again, on a larger scale?

I just checked my account, and I saw the same $14.95 debited from my account.  When I called I got a voicemail.  I have no idea what this is for.  My bank is entering it as an unauthorized debit and refunding my fees.

I discovered a web revenue withdrawal from my account for 14.95 from my account on 5/27.  I called the number however all I get is a recording that the mailbox is full.  This was not authorized this guy must think he's a real smart one but when the proper authorities get him we will have the last laugh....

My mother-in-law just called and asked me to look up this web revenue service and phone #. She also was charged 14.95 and called the number just to receive an answering machine. My question is, how is this guy getting account numbers? Perhaps I'm naive, but this is crazy to me! The bank told my MIL that it was authorized by a 'John Smith' - a fake name obviously - has anybody else heard that name associated with this?

I have also been a victim of this $14.95 chrg 2 my chkg acct. 4 any1 who is reading this 4 the 1st time, contact your bank. This company (Web Revenue Service) has gotten a hold of ur bank acct # and is pre-authorizing the withdrawl ammt. U need 2 dispute it as an unauthorized charge and close ur acct. Just changing ur debit cards will not be enough. Some banks charge you ($25) 2 do a stop payment on ur account and it only lasts for 6 mo. It's eaiser 2 just dispute the charge, then u may get ur $ back; being it was unauthorized, then close ur old acct and open a new 1. It'll be cheaper 2 buy new checks than 2 keep putting a stop payment on ur acct. U will also have to redirect any auto debits or credits you have on ur old acct 2 ur new one, but that will only last 1 mo. So u will still need to fix it with the corrisponding companies. N BTW, if u have not seen any other weird crap on other financial accts, u may b ok, I was told they can't get ur ss# from ur bank info. I'm ticked off at the fact that this person running this scheme thinks that they will not be found out. Their time will come and when it does, with all the people that they have affected it will be in vain.

I was charged 14.95 too which caused an overdraft fee. I called my bank, disputed the charge, and changed the account numbers. I never use this account anymore. I'm surprised they got it.

Same $14.95 charge here, although I do not remember getting a call from this number. I don't know why or what the charge is. I called and got mail box full message. Filed unauthorized ACH with bank.

I also had my account charged 14.95, called the bank and they can reverse the charges for 35.00, um no.  called the number and got an answering machine/recording.  I noticed this on my account a few days ago, but had to wait for it to clear to do anything.  My wife mentioned that it might be the charge for filing our taxes, but the IRS doesn't really try to be sneaky, or we think, this is the same amount as the E-file charge.  Have to look further into this matter.

hi to all you out there that got bilked like I did...I closed my account of 33 yrs.  this guy is going under the name John Smith and he thinks he is going to get the best of us...I also filed an unauthorized ACH with my bank but I went one step further and went to the state police post and filed a complaint with them so they are aware that this fraud and identity theft is going on.  no sense trying to call him he won't answer your calls and only get mail box is full.. so all of you bilked out there file a complaint with the state police or local police department giving them all the info and maybe we will catch this creep.  I am from michigan.  I noticed alot of different states out there under the complaints....lets get him...

Here's a weird question - any one else here a DirectTV customer?  For the acct in ME w/ no debit card or online purchases, for the same acct, there is one auto withdrawal every month from DirectTV.  That's big enough to have access to bank numbers all across the country.

Just brainstorming to figure out how this happened.  DirectTV was the only entity that had the checking account number for auto withdrawals.
