http://www.nbcnews.com/business/taxes/tax-imp ... hearing-n341906 - MaryI've been hearing about this on the news lately so when I called the number back from my work line (they left a message from "Nikki Johnson" and to call back and not to ignore the call) they asked for my phone number. A supposed Shane Watson answered and had a heavy Indian accent. I gave him our home land line to which he said was a bad number so then I gave him my mobile number and he had my name.
I asked to have whatever it is they want sent to me via snail mail and he had my old address on file in a different county. That kind of alarms me, however my taxes this year and last year were done from my new address. "Shane" then asked for the last 4 digits of my SSN to make sure I was a human or a person. I didn't give it to him but he asked why I was being so hostile. I said I was returning a call from Nikki and he said he was her supervisor and she was not authorized to handle this issue.
I didn't trust him so I kept saying I just want to see what this is about. He then asked if I had a lawyer, so I said I could get one. Then I told him I'm going to call my tax accountant and he hung up on me.- Caller: IRS

- Betty Gerrish| 1 replyI had a call from this number saying they where the IRS. Well they called the wrong girl. I have had a lot of dealing with the IRS. The real IRS will not call and threaten jail they use mail and send everything certified. I had just finished up my payments with them on Friday and received this call in Monday. When I would not give him my social he said fine go to jail and hung up on me. Then I googled the number. Beware they will try to scare you. A friend at work fell for this and bought a card or something she was embarrassed so I didn't get the full amount she spent.

- Not a Fool replies to Betty GerrishI received the same call today on my cell phone asking me to call Irs back, when I called it was a voice mail I knew it was a scam, when I just googled the number it only confirmed it, IRS does not have a 424 area code stupid con artist you are the real suckers, I know people who have 424 area codes and if I didn't I would still google your silly [***] and not pay your [***] a cooper penny.
- Concerned citizenWhy doesn't someone prosecute these people!

- DavisSomeone left a message claiming to be either Vicky or Nicky Johnson (hard to hear), saying she is from the IRS and we have to return the call immediately. I'm grateful for websites like this one that verified what we suspected, which is that this is a scam.
- Caller: Claiming to be from the IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- Rose replies to ShellyI received a message from an "officer" Nikki Johnson claiming to be from the IRS and to call back. Tried calling number several times...no answer. That was on April 23. Got another message today from a different number. SCAMS!
- LaurenSame call from Nikki Johnson as well. I accidentally picked up last week with a similar number and spent 15 minutes on the phone with a guy that had a strong Indian accent. He said that I wed about $3k in taxes from 2012 and 2013 back taxes. He said if I didn't go right to the back to get a pre-paid credit card with the exact amount on it he would send my information to the local authorities and have a warrant out for my arrest. This is such a scam....Just be careful as I thought the call was legit and they asked me to confirm the last 4 digits of my social when we first got on the call. The guy was so rude as well...at least if they are trying to pretend to be the IRS they should at least be nice about asking for the money!
- Jon M424-356-2511 I got the IRS final notice recording, and hung up. Many others were getting this scam. I called the guy back and he answered it as the IRS (broken english, I couldn't make out what department in the IRS). I told him to quit running this scam and I was going to report it. He insisted he was the IRS, I hung up on him.
