This is a collection agency. Still couldn't get the name of the company but they will continue to call until they get an answer.

Company called a neighbor and told them to deliver a message because they couldn't contact the person directly. Asked the neighbor to tell my daughter to call this number. What right does ANYONE have to make such a call?

Some unknown person called me today asking for a phone number for a person with a specific name. There are three people in my family with this name. The person was fishing for information. After querying her further, it was a call for an ex-daughter-in-law. I do not have her phone number, and I cut off the phone call.  I do not appreciate anyone calling me that I don't know, asking for information when I don't know what for.

I'm suspecting this was a debt collector. The caller was a very smooth talker. She said she had previously worked with the young woman and tried to call her at work with no success. I asked her how she got my number, and she said, "well, I have this book with many phone numbers in it.

Pay your bills sir. They have every legal right to call a neighbor to collect money that YOU borrowed

According to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, collectors are prohibited from communication with third parties other than in an attempt to locate them: revealing or discussing the nature of debts with third parties (other than the consumer's spouse or attorney) (Collection agencies are allowed to contact neighbors or co-workers but only to obtain location information; disreputable agencies often harass debtors with a "block party" or "office party" where they contact multiple neighbors or co-workers telling them they need to reach the debtor on an urgent matter.)

I just recieved a call from this # guy was very rude and abrasive. Being threatening and then hanging up on me is not going to help me understand what and why you are calling about. So now I am unaware what he was calling about an old cc or something and he has put a damper on the day.
