Had several calls from this fellow, with East Indian accent, telling me he is technical support for all users of windows. I told him I had a Mac, and he refused to believe me. I hung up!

Received a call at work from a very East-Indian sounding guy calling himself "Charlie" (who talked fast and was hard to understand) said he was with Tech...something, and something along the line of their system had monitored something that set off a warning the last time I'd checked my e-mail and something else.  I haven't checked it from anywhere the last few days.  I asked him again about what company he was with and he stressed that it was a "GLOBAL" ID protection company or agency. He asked me if I was at my computer and told me to find the "Windows" button on my keyboard, then press and hold it and the R buttons.  I was very suspicious so I said that I'd have to ask for an okay from my administrator-- suddenly he was gone.  I Googled what that key combo did, and it brings up the "Run... " thing from the Start menu.  That can get you into the works of the programming of the computer if you know what you're doing.  I think this is a scam to get a "back-door" access to your computer; like those scam phone calls saying they need to test your phone line, and they need you to dial a certain number.  It lets them make overseas calls that are charged to your account through some island offshore that our gov't can't touch.  STAY WARY!

Second call from this number...  after my 2nd or 3rd time of saying "hello," there's a beep then a female computer voice says "goodbye".  Nothing else afterward...it's just a simple beep and "goodbye".
    Very odd!!

A man with an Indian accent called, supposedly about a problem with my computer. He asked if I was the owner of the computer, and I hung up. Some kind of scam to get access to information on your computer. After hanging up, I called the number back and got a recording indicating that it was a "phishing" scam.

First do not call number back! Call "DO NOT CALL" registry (888) 382-1222  Report them.
Next way, File police report first.  Now you have a "case number" and the phone company can then investigate.  They trace or list all your calls.  You then write down date and time this number calls you.  After the second time they call you supply you police department the dates and times of the calls and the police go after them. Thats how it works here in CA

Called today and no response when I answered

BTW ASSOC in Command Prompt will only show what is running currently on your machine software wise. If you type anything else with it it will run a command on some of that software

Gentleman with a very strong Indian accent.  He said he was from "Global IT Security" (I think).  He said something about my computer had downloaded a virus that was destroying my computer AS WE SPOKE and that he needed access to my computer RIGHT NOW.  When I asked him to explain how that was possible, he got more aggressive.  I hung up after about 30 seconds.

Just got a call from some wog chick with an almost unintelligible accent.  Something about my computer system, blah blah blah. I couldn't understand much of her pidgin jibberish.  I told her to work on her English if she wants to sell crap to Americans, then hung up.

Getting lots of calls from 425 area code the past several months.  Obviously, these scammers are funneling calls from overseas boiler rooms through US numbers.  Washington state seems to be the new telemarketing hotspot for [***] call centers.

Just received this call. Heavy accented Hindi male saying my computer was downloading malicious software and I needed to turn it on and he could show me how to stop it. Ok, I'm a network engineer and have been doing this for awhile, but come on if my computer IS downloading wouldn't that mean it's currently running? Knew it was a scam right away, but wanted to screw with him so I asked a few questions of my own. What's my IP address, What OS do I run? What type of computer I had? etc. etc. Stuff I know these reports give out. No real straight answer and he kept insisting me to get on my computer, AND was starting to yell at me. I finally had enough and wasn't going to be yelled at by a scam artist. I told him the gig was up and I noted his number and will be reporting it. He started yelling even more and I just hung up on him.
