Got a text...but don't know who this is???

Hmmm. Same "hi W..." text as everyone else, with my first name. Spam, or maybe some kind of phishing attempt? It's a TextPlus.com number, so apparently not even a real cell phone.

The formatting looks automated to me: Lower case except for my first name, which I assume has been pulled from phone account, Facebook, or other online information, as if it was copied & pasted in by software.

I'm going to make a guess that they're testing to find active numbers. That's why I called the number from my home phone, not the cell I received this text on.

"Who is this?

'Omg !! mi Iphone s about to die !!!'

"Who is this?"

And then I recieved no reply.

It's automated.  They say if you want to know who it is you have to add them on Yahoo messenger, then claim their battery is down.

Report the Yahoo ID to Yahoo abuse and the phone number to Text Plus:
If you are receiving anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or harassed,  please email abuse@textplus.com immediately with the textPlus number/username and your number (that is, the number receiving the inappropriate messages).

They get your info from Facebook, probably one of those apps.  They can access your information if you allow the app.
