I was contacted by this person via Careerbuilder.

"I received your resume from Careerbuilder.com and would like to arrange a time for you to come to our office to meet with our Regional Coordinator, Marc Transparenti. We are searching for an Account Executive for our Aflac office in Elmhurst, IL. There are also opportunities for management positions for the right candidate."

I got the same exact e-mail, Aflac, Elmhurst,Il I know its a Maryland area code.

I got the exact same message. Has anyone been to interview with him yet..or is this just some scheme?

I got this as well today, and it now troubles me as its two months after you guys did...

Told me to leave a message under Marc's voicemail... sounds a Little fishy... even though I'm really in need of a job.

Furthermore, I literally JUST signed up with CareerBuilder today 11/24/08 and I received this email only a few hours later to see others have received a similar response for the past few months. It's sad that honest people looking for a job cannot even do it without being harassed by scammers.

Must be a scam, assuming that they are looking for phone numbers- I don't plan on calling since I cannot even find an Aflac office location in Elmhurst.

I'm not sure if this is a Scam.  Two days ago a company called Marketing FX called me and that company is a scam.  I doubt this is all real.

I got the e-mail and will attend on Dec 2 12.

There is indeed an Aflac office in Elmhurst IL. You can go to Aflac's official web site and find this information: http://www.aflac.com/us/en/find_sales_office.aspx.
On the page, you can also find the contact information for Marc Transparenti; his email and phone number are both posted. What I find interesting is that neither his "real" email or phone number were included in the email blast from Career Builder. In addition, if you search the "career opportunities" directly on Aflac's web site, there is no mention of an an 'Account Executive' opening; there were not even any job openings listed for Illinois. This is DEFINITELY a scam. Why on earth should I have to call a phone number to tell someone the "best number to contact me on"; if they have my resume and profile from Career Builder, then that information should already be known! The fact that so many individuals have been getting the same email makes it obvious that this is a scam ... Marc would have to be superman to interview all of these folks in a given day, week, month, or year!

Wow! thanks for the info. I almost made the mistake of calling. I am in need of job and I thought "well career builder is finally paying off". I have been searching for a long time. Trying to find that great job. I will graduate in the spring of 2009 and now is the time to get a job. I have received two other offers from scammers. I always Google these so called opportunities and have found reviews from the poor souls who actually took the next step. Always, do your research on these "too good to be true jobs" and good luck to everyone searching for their big break!

This is legitimate.  I work in that office.  Marc was transferred to Chicago from Maryland.  He was a leader in that area and AFLAC promoted him.  For business reasons it has been convenient to keep his cell with that area code.  In fact, there are others with that area code in that office, all who came to Chicago from Maryland.
Marc is a great manager and builder of people. AFLAC is growing greatly in the Chicago area and has need of many new "account executives."

This is legit. The office in Elmhurst is 188 W. Industrial Dr, Suite 124.  The office phone number is 630-832-7900.  Marc is a great builder of people and is looking for new account executives.  Aflac is growing in the Chicago area.  Many persons are needed.

Recruitment uses a separate email. They are asking for a call partly for you to express interest.  Marc is a "superman" but that is made possible with good help in handling recruitment-- his wife, his office help and his district managers as will as other staff.

I got an email from this guy too.  Is this one of those jobs like at Primerica where it's only commission-based (ie. getting a bunch of young people to try to hit the bricks and make sales)?  Because if it is, it's pretty much a Ponzi scheme.

Strange to say the least
I recieved a call from aflac but from a different representative calling from 443 872 2994 which makes since because 443 is a Baltimore county # and they address associated is right outside Balt. City.

They called in the morning 8am. scheduled me for an interview which the woman said would be 2 parts. A general overview of the company and then a 1 on 1 following. She confirmed my email and Hrs later i recieved a follow up email confirming my interview scheduled for Thursday Feb. 5th 2009 @ 10am, it also prompted me to bring a copy of my resume and to dress professionally.

1 hr later i recieved another call from the same number... a different Rep. which indicates they each have there own extentions which also makes sense when dealing with a large company HQ. They are clearly doing a great deal of hiring and have more than one HR rep searching for applicants and potential employees. I will post again Thursday afternoon to confirm or denounce the legitimacy of this opportunity.

I dont believe this is a scam, as fishy as it smells, for 1 reason. They arent making any money from fooling you. Just wasting time. Scams are created, developed and 1st invested in, in hops of profit. Where is the profit on THEIR end? But again i WILL repost Thurs. afternoon after my 'scheduled appt' and let everyone know for sure

It was a seminar to sell disability insurance for straight commission. It was in the guise of an interview. It kind of reminded me of Cutco. I drove all the way out there and sat for the seminar. It actually sounded like a decent job, but I'm not in a financial position where I can work for straight commission.

Yeah, well my story is pretty weird. I actually got two e-mails from two different locations, for the SAME JOB. The phone numbers are different, but the fishy thing I noticed is that both of the names on the e-mail say it was sent from each location's representative... However, each letter is signed by someone else. And I don't remember applying to anything, especially not for the same job at two locations. One asked me to e-mail that Aflac opportunity e-mail, but the other is some other e-mail entirely... so I don't trust it and won't waste my time. Besides the way i see it, they're sending out these e-mails to everyone, and even if they are legit... the amount of people that will go there tells me it wont even be worth my time.

Not a scam, I am trying to find my old friend Marc Transparenti who I met at the Univ. of Maryland.  I googled his name and this popped up. Atleast I am getting closer to finding him. Marc, If you read this, get on Facebook.  Cindy is looking for you.
