    Here's what I've found:
    First, I received a check from "Fifth Third Bank" in the form of a "Cashier's Check"

    The amount was for $1,998.00
    According the breakdown enclosed with the check:
    $  250.00  Salary
    $   50.00  Money for purchase
    $1,586.00  Transaction at Western Union
    $  112.00  Service Charges at Western Union

    First, here's the info on the bank obtained from www.routingnumbers.org
    FIFTH THIRD BANK
    Routing Information Bank Name   FIFTH THIRD BANK
    Routing Number   042207735
    Address   5050 KINGSLEY DRIVE
    City   CINCINNATI
    State   OH
    Zip Code   45263-0000
    Telephone Number   (513) 358-6232
    Office Type   Main
    Servicing Number   041000014
    Record Type Code   1
    Institution Status Code   1
    Record Revision Date   2006-10-10

    So, the bank is real.  The address that is listed on the check doesn't match.

    Any other info?

    Damn, you people are stupid. No, it is NOT legitimate. Have you no search engine skills to find the details of this very common scam?

    Well, if you are really so smart, perhaps you have some proof to backup your statement?

    As for me, I have begun investigating into this further, and will know more on Monday (when the banks are actually open).

    As for "The Truth," if you could shed light on the "scam" that would be fantastic.

    Thanks,

    It's all over the internet. How could you NOT know it's a scam.
    Stop thinking you are going to get money for doing nothing.
    Type in 419 scam or go to ripoff report and read.

    the bank cannot tell you any thing about the check untill it has cleared the red tape factor and if it dose come back to you NSF then you pay the fee .now if you enough money to travel to the original bank it is drawn on then they may be able to tell you if it is ok.before u cash it . and if you really use common sense then it still stands true (if it sounds to good to be true then it is)come on people even when a company dose hire someone they are not going to pay them that much money for 10 min of shopping.besides if you look for the micro print in the border it is not there.
