Looking at a car off of craigs list.  The seller emailed me and gave this phone number. The email says his name is

I tried to call the COMM number from my cell and it would not go thru. I am skeptical because the price of the car is so low and it is a great car with really low mileage.

I'm pretty sure this is a scam because he sent me the same email. Don't trust things that have to go through ebay that originally start from craigslist.

I received the same e-mail. at this point I'm convinced its a scam. A fully loaded 2005 honda accord for 3000? not a chance. I'm also from Maine so if you guys are from another state then this has to be a scam.

This is the email contact that I got from this guy - IT is definitely a scam.  His name is now Robert Hamilton.

It's a scam. This guy sent me an email  stating that the vehicle is a 2006 Nissan Altima for $2900. He emailed me pictures as well. He also sent his contact information as listed below.

FBI Warns of Online Car-Sales Scam
Scam artists pose as military personnel about to be deployed

Scam artists are now posing as members of the United States military in a new ruse to dupe consumers buying vehicles on the Internet, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) warns.
These scammers claim they’ve either been sent overseas to improve military relations or need to sell their vehicles “quickly and cheaply” because of upcoming deployments to Iraq or Afghanistan, FBI officials say.
This is a new twist to an old scam that continues to rip-off unsuspecting consumers buying cars and other vehicles on the Internet, the FBI says.
“Victims find attractively priced vehicles advertised at different Internet classified ad sites,” the agency warns. “Most of the scams include some type of third-party vehicle protection program to ensure a safe transaction.”
After consumers receive what the FBI calls “convincing e-mails from the phony vehicle protection program,” they are told to send either the full payment -- or a percentage of the payment -- to the third-party agent using a wire payment service.
“No vehicles are delivered to the victims,” the FBI said.
Consumers can protect themselves from getting taken in one of these schemes by doing their homework before buying any vehicles on the Internet, the FBI said. Consumers should also know and follow the rules used by the Internet sites they visit. If someone asks you to break those rules, the FBI warns, that person is likely trying to rip you off.

Im not sure if it6s a scam or not!!! he says he is a sassergent with this 01 lexus 114k miles for only 1,400. Is this possible?? when i went to ebay it asked for 9,999 buy it now price. So idk!

i also got a email from such person, i told him thanks but no thanks. i only do business locally. keep your car to yourself and sleep in it you might need it you bum. :D

Yeah, he's still doing this.

I thought I found a VERY good deal on Craigslist.........But his name is now Leonard Noolan and his number  is 465-2467. Knew it was too good to be true. It pays to do a little investigating on the net before following through with a deal! Oh, by the way, this was for a '01 Toyota Camry for $1300.

Had the same occurance with Leonard Noolan.  I was about to make a payment to him through Western Union and got a call from my husband to tell me it was a scam.  He almost got me!!!!!  I almost bought the 01 Camry for 1300.

Wow I am soooo glad I didnt send any payment to this game he claimed he was a sergant in the US Army same story like he lied and told everyone even got almost the same email...a 2004 honda accord for 1800 gave me the vin number and everything when I looked up the vin number on carfax it showed up as a 2005 honda accord instead......I just happened copy his rank name from the email and it lead me to here thank god I used my second brain otherwise he would've had me.Hello and thank you for your interest in my 2004 Honda Accord EX-L. Its a little disgusting these guys would go as far as to pose as members of the military to gain a persons trust or believe in their scam.
