We have been dealing with Cap one for three years and they are very tricky. We recently went to a funeral and had a phone call from a family member that originated in the 281 area code and lo and behold if cap one didn't call from same area code in less than two minutes. By the way we were only 3 days late with payment. Unbeleivable. So that being said here is a list of all numbers cap one has called us from. I am a contractor and I travel quite a bit as you can see from  area codes they call me from always with an IMPORTANT or URGENT message about refinancing or options. ( They have NO refinancing dept...and no options)
      here goes the LIST
      989-224-4714
      866-849-2439
      469-241-7000
      469-767-8233
      305-600-1048
      215-567-1578
      917-645-9756
      972-378-4101
      281-499-3803
      805-968-2462
      817-704-9085
      832-556-0237'
      442-0802-80208
      214-801-9116
      508-209-2336
      469-583-9414
that was just in my call log. Completely insane harrassment. About every 15-20 minutes. Kills me that they know when you travel or take a call out of your zone. And when you do call them back you cannot get any living person that is actually stateside. We live within 30 minutes of their corp office...truly unbeleivable.

They do think that they are slick. Do you think that we are going to answer when the same area code comes up but a different name. They (capital one) call from a number that is saying Austin Comm with a 972 area code. If you call it, DUH it is Capital One. How stupid are they??? I will NEVER get a car loan through them again. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone either.

it's crazy how people think they can drive around for free.

if you pay your bill ON TIME, as per the contract YOU SIGNED without a gun to your head, you wouldn't get a phone call from collections.  it's laughable to read these complaints.  I've never received a phone call a collections a day in my life - because I fortunately pay all my bills on time.  If I didn't pay, whether unfortunate circumstances or not, I would expect a call!!

          It's elementary, my Dear Watson!

Dude - no one mentioned anything about wanting to drive for free...it's easy to judge...I don't know anyone who wants anyone calling them about money...times are hard and payments get missed...it's commendable and fortunate that you are able to meet your obligations on time...kudos...but fortunate is the key word there...it does diminish you as a person when you criticize those less fortunate...so ease up...jerk.

As for why I found this site?  I keep getting calls from this number ON MY CELL PHONE and I do not have a loan with them...ex-husband does, but I don't.  My ex's name has never been on my cell phone, nor has he EVER paid my cell bill.  How did they get MY number???  This is so annoying and they are RUDE.  I'd like to file a complaint, but don't know with whom...any ideas?

You can file a complaint with the FCC, and they will contact the caller..possibly with a fine if you are on the do not call list for solicitors and have nothing to do with capital one.
ps - the person making "all payments on-time" - please teach me! how do I make sure daddy doesn't let me miss any of my payments for me?..a**wipe...

Amen.  I know it's not good to wish that someone had an opportunity to learn how little control they have over their own life and situation when they lose a job or have some kind of other financial disaster, but the person who made those comments is begging for some karma payback. I would venture to guess this is not a person who spends a lot if time even considering the plight of others.  Very sad.

TRULY, I SUBMIT THAT YOU MOST ASSUREDLY HAVE RECEIVED A COLLECTION CALL FROM CAPITAL ONE.  OTHERWISE, YOU WOULDN'T BE INVESTIGATING THIS PHONE NUMBER OR THIS WEBSITE!

THEREFORE SIR, REFRAIN YOURSELF FROM OBNOXIOUS BELITTLING OF OTHERS, OF WHOM YOU HAVE NO PERSONAL INSIGHT INTO THEIR FINANCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES, AND YOUR POMPOUS ATTITUDE OF SUPERIORITY FOR THOSE LESS FORTUNATE THAN OTHERS!

I'm investingating because I received a collection call, not for me though, that is why I am investigating. So no, you can't be sure that he received a call for a collection rendering your comment worthless.
To address your next comment, no, I financial circumstances are not known, however, more often than not, collection calls are not due to financial hardship.  I would be willing to bet most, not all, people with complaints could pay their bills on time if they could spend wisely.
If you disagree, please borrow me your next months rent/mortgage and I will pay you back when I feel like, if you say you won't call me you're a liar.

I want to suggest you change your attitude about collections and late
payments.  I was once in your shoes, owned my home, car, always paid everything in cash, and if I financed, always paid my bills on time.  I had a savings and investment account worth more than $1.5 million.

I lost my job in 2004, eventually lost my home and went through my savings and investments for medical expenses.  In essence I lost everything and did get collection calls eventually.

It's not a laughing matter, I too was one of those people that looked down at people that did not pay their bills.  I was very hard working and watched expenses.  I never ever in my wildest dreams imagined it would be me or could happen to me.  I hope it never happens to you, but please note that God has a way of sending a message to everyone.  It can happen to you or anyone, thus before you judge others take a long look at yourself and what you have.  Be thankful it has not happen to you.  The experinece has humbled me and I'm thankful.  I understand now that anything is possible and never doubt the possibilities but now prepare and help others.

Capital One reposessed my car in 2006 and keeps calling me claiming I still have the car and have made payments on the car monthly since 2006.
They don't know where the car is although they picked it up.

what gives you the right to judge others and think you are above getting one of these calls.Until you know other people's circumstances maybe you should keep your mouth shut. One of these days your circumstances may change and you will be getting the calls,or better yet maybe they will just come and take your vehicle. It would serve you right for thinking you are above others who have problems. What are you doing on this website anyway if you always pay your bills on time, or do you?

Let me guess you work for A DEBT COLLECTOR OR CAPITOL ONE AUTO FINANCE. Read a newspaper every once in a while and you'll see we in general are not doing as good financially as we would like. O.K someone misses a payment, today IT'S A COMMON EVENT.But to get a call from debt collectors every half hour is just HARRASSMENT. Oh by the way what r u guys going to do when the spoofing law goes into effect and you have to call from an actual number and not some of the B.S numbers you use ? Before you reply in the fashion you did put yourself in that person's shoes because it's happening to more and more people each day.

Totally agree.. The contract has your signature. And yes, I understand that things do happen but it is your responsibility to pay that note every month because you agreed to do so for 72 months, 60, 48, or however long the contract may be. And for contractors, well for all occupations, they have a program called Direct Pay where you can make the payments automatically for the ones that forget to make their payments! It's a big help and very convenient! :) not being smart. Just trying to help

Oh my gosh...I do not wish being behind to anyone and anyone who is behind is not doing it for the hell of it. Both my husband and I have been laid off in 2009 (me twice). I endured the millions of phone calls from capital one.  I also was able to work out our situation several times. They just want their money and I understand that.  I think what bothers me is that they call, you pick up and it is dead air. Leave a message.  I am not going to return calls when messages are not left.  If you leave a message I will call you back and repeat the information over and over if that is what they need, but leave a message. I know they use an outbound call system and those poor people who work there have the worst job but they have a job. I hope when our nation pulls out of this DEPRESSION (yes I used the D word) we will all be stronger, more compassionate and understanding.
