He keeps calling leaving messages on my cell phone.  It sounds really wierd.  He claims to be an inspector and on every message, he calls me by a different wrong name, like: "Hi Aisha, (or Sabrina one time)this is Inspector Jones. it's time to stop playing games & return my call regarding case # 2007-2726, I know you're getting my messages".
Since he is incouraging the call and using a different name every time, I thought there is something wrong here, so I did not call and googled the # instead and saw this page.

Phone number was 469-484-5750 Ext 1180

    -----------------------------
I received a voicemail from Investigator James Harp with the Windsor Group calling regarding Eduardo Garcia (no idea who that is).  I called back to find out who the company was/who was Investogator James Harp.  The phone is answered automatically and you are asked to enter the extension number given or use their company directory. I was put into voicemail and asked to leave a message with my name, phone number, case number or the name of the person I was called about - I hung up. Sounds fishy...

I got the same calls today twice and was asked by an investigator xxx about a certain case number.  The receptionist called themselves the "Windsor Group".  He said he was investigating a person by a name that I do not recall, but they were also able to provide a SSN asking if that belongs to me.

You're right. "Anonymous" is obviously a collector trying to feed people bad information.

First of all, this is just another typical thuggish debt collector. Anytime someone calls and identifies themselves as "investigator" or "inspector" or "officer" or "agent" or "special agent" without identifying the organization they're with, then you can rest assured it's probably a crooked debt collector.  The idea behind using those phony titles is to scare people into thinking they are law enforcement officers and that you're going to be arrested.  (Threatening to arrest people is another typical tactic of corrupt debt collectors. Of course, no collection agency has the authority to have anyone arrested for anything and for them to imply otherwise is in itself illegal.) Another common illegal debt collection scam is for the collector to falsely claim that he's an attorney. I heard of a case where an outlaw debt collector gave himself the title "prosecuting attorney."  This is all laughable and illegal. A collector has as much authority to arrest you as your barber does. :)

For those being harassed by Windsor Group, don't let the "I'm an investigator" schtick fool you.  Windsor is just a collection of bums looking to take your money -- whether the debt is legitimate or not. I suggest not talking them and never, ever give them your bank account and credit card numbers. And remember this: you have no legal obligation to communicate with any debt collector, no matter how often they call you.

If you want to put a halt to their calls, send them a cease-communication letter.  Check out these websites for advice on dealing with abusive debt collectors and, if need be, suing them.

They sd they are investigation firm.. theyre actuall pretty harmless..they never ask for money, just info on whereabouts and phone #s...theyre skip tracers....theyare bound by those collection regulations so the best way to get em off your caller id is to talk to em, I told em how to call who they were looking for and havent been bothered since.....still, they do erk me at the wrong times...420

I agree with the poster above. I just received this call this morning. I Googled the phone number and saw these posts. Thinking it was a scam, I called the "investigator" back to threaten police action; however, it turns out he was trying to find a friend of mine who's involved in some sort of fraud charges. I gave the guy all the information I had. They are just looking for phone numbers or addresses of someone who has skipped out on a payment or something. I'd recommend giving them what they want and they'll leave you alone.

Please refer to what is known as the Fair Debt Act.  They are bound by these regulations and consistently violate these guidelines.  If you ask them to stop calling they continue to call which right there is a breach of those regulations.  They also make pointless threats of making things a legal matter with the authorities.  They have no ties with law enforcement; they are simply a skip tracing agency, private investigating, collection agency dealing solely in locating the individual they are hired to locate.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TELL THEM ANYTHING.  Look them up, Windsor Equity - you'll see how many lawsuits are pending against them.

Also, if you'd like to email them and state your complaint directly towards them, you can email them at greg.brantley@windsoreg.com

Remember....the means in which they investigate can be used against them as well.
