Same Exact Situation from the same number, I tried being nice, until they asked for the money. They say they are legit from Microsoft but I seriously cannot be sure.

Henry from Online Computer Solutions called to help me out with problems I've been having, perhaps with slow start-up, send error reports, etc.  He gave this phone number to call.  Claimed Windows users have been affected over the last few weeks with an "infection" and they are calling ALL Windows users on behalf of Microsoft to help out with their concerns.  He actually told me he was calling from India when I asked what state he is calling me from.  (We have a hefty Do Not Call enforcement in Hoosierland.)  He wanted me to turn off my computer and then was going to lead me through prompts.  I let him know this wasn't a good time, so he asked for a time to call me back.

Has anyone ever heard of Microsoft calling, or having agents call on their behalf, all users of Windows when there is a problem or a Virus/ Infection (HA!) ???  Nah.  Didn't think so.  It was amusing.  He sounded professional and polite...so to an unassuming elderly person, these people could cause some harm.

Since when does someone call you from out of the blue (from a company you've never heard of) to tell you they know you received a computer error message and they will fix it for you over the phone?  I received just such a call yesterday.  "Kevin" called from a number that said "Out of Area" on my Caller ID and said he was with Online PC Solutions.  He said they received a message that my computer had gotten an error report and he was going to fix it for me.  He said, "you're on your computer, right?"  When I wanted more information about who he was and what company he was with, he kept trying to steer me back by telling to to log on to my computer.  I asked for a telephone number and he gave me the number in this way: 4696-756-068.  Now, who rattles off a number that way except someone from / in another country who's not familiar with how Americans breakdown a telephone number?

I did receive a message that something was wrong with my computer a few days ago.  [Some message came up after I downloaded a photo of Sandra Bullock that I suddenly had several worms, viruses and trojans (downloader trojan was one of them)].  I was prompted to remove them but, when I tried to, another message popped up that the source of the "fix" could not be verified.  So, I stopped and tried to use my Norton software to fix it.  That turned up nothing.  So, I downloaded a security program from Microsoft.  That didn't detect it or fix it either.  Since then, I've kept that computer offline and have worked from another until I can resolve the problem.  So, I suspect "Kevin" was trying to activate whatever was downloaded to my computer by trying to get me to give him control over it.

Besides, when you have a problem on your computer, how often does some strange person call you from out of the blue to fix it?  NEVER!  You always have to bring in an expert or fix it yourself.  Beware of this company--it's a scam!

Received a call from these guys.  When I asked him if he was familiar with the do not call list he ignored me and passed the phone to someone else.  When I repeated my question he became belligerent and said that he knew "where I live and I am going to come to your house and [***] your mother".  As you can imagine all they did was piss me off more.  I called the original number and company which is "online pc solutions" at 206 445-6908 and I could tell is was the same a$#holes.  I am going to follow up with a complaint.  Tried to get address info or company info and it is all smoke and mirrors.

Received the call as mentioned above.  I told him my computer is just fine and I asked him to remove my number from his list.  He said no and I would have to pay him $50.  I said I don't have to pay you anything and I am reporting your number to the police and I hung up.  Caller ID said UNKNOWN.....

Out of the blue, we received a phone call from this number saying that they'd help us with our computer problem in broken English.  I said, "What computer problem?"  The caller said, "You have a computer, right?".  I replied, "Yes, but we're not having any problems" and hung up.

Caller told my wife that he was a security firm called "online PC solutions", and that his firm had traced strange internet traffic (or some other nonsense) to our Windows PC.  We do not own a Windows PC (Mac only), and this was obviously a phishing expedition.

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about it here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!), find fictitious errors, viruses, etc. on your PC that they now want $$$ to fix. Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware that can steal your info including online bank logins in addition to ripping off your $$$. THIS IS A SCAM.

My mom has a super slow computer, so when they called her she thought they would help and allowed them to remote into her computer that's when they asked for money.  (Indian Man) Told her she could pay through Citi Bank.  She told them she didn't have a Citi Bank account and he said "Don't you buy stuff online?"  she said "no I don't" and he gave her this number to call back if she wanted more help.  She called me and asked if that was normal because she didn't feel like it was.  That's when I googled the number and found this...  She changing passwords as I type.

An older friend got a similar call from this number - claimed to be calling from "Windows." Talked to her for a long time and got her to look  at stuff on her computer. I'm concerned that he got info that would allow remote access. Fortunately, there's no financial/banking info on the computer.

I've been getting calls on a regular bases from a company called Tech. Dept. of Windows.  They always say that my computer has a virus and I need to let them have access so that they can repair my system.  I asked them how they would know I had a virus unless they were the ones who put it on there.  I hung up on them but they are persistent and continue to call back on a regular bases.
