Recruiter for advisors obviously... because he didn't say who he was or what he wanted on the message.

Definitely a recruiter looking for candidates "in my area" who are interested in pursuing other opportunities.

called saying he had "questions" for my advisor; didn't say what it was about but said MSI would ring a bell..never heard of him

They called our financial firm asking to speak with one of my Financial Advisors, asked for him by name.  He happen to be  on the phone.  The guy called asked for my FA to call him back.  He left the name of Brian McCracken with MSI in Dallas.  Defiantly had a Texas twang (I used to live there) in his southern accent.  He was polite and not rude, abrupt or pushy.  I see the other posts identifying them as recruters and I will guess that is what this call was about.

Yes, same dude just called here in Phx.   Acted like I should know what "MSI" was.   Well Brian McCraken, you are "cracked up" if you think my FA will call you.

Brian McCracken called, with MSI International. He asked for my FA and I finally got it out of him that it was a 'business to business' call. Why can't they simply say they are a recruiter calling??!!?  I'm sure they might get more return phone calls if they were upfront about their calls versus being so secretive. My FA refuses to return calls to anyone who can't say why they are calling, plainly. Why would anyone want to work with a recruiter who isn't above board?

Thanks to these posts I won't bother returning call - get lots of these nuisance recruiting calls and have no interest in changing broker-dealer or RIA affiliation.

Kaitlin Garret is still making the rounds.  Calling virtually every FA in my office today.  :)  I'm going to classify her as a telemarketer, though she is clearly a recruiter.

Just got a call from a "Cindy" from MSI for my advisor, was very cagey with info.  I had to ask where she was calling from, what it was regarding, etc.  She gave one word answers, and when I said he's not going to take the call without more information, she said it's a confidential matter and he needs to call her back before 4pm today.  I googled MSI and the number she left and found this board.  Thanks everyone else for sharing!

Sounded like Cindy McGee with MSI, but she was very rushed, somewhat hard to understand.  After looking at these posts, now I know who it was for sure -- a recruiter.  Deleting the message!

Same deal - Cindy from MSI in regards to a "matter" for our FAs.  Will not be calling back.  Too Many "MSI"s came up on Google.  Glad I found this info.
