Got a call from this number.  Did not answer.  I have reason to believe it is readers club home office.  They have been pestering me for awhile now.  They try to scam you out of money.  I blocked most of the numbers they call from but now they are using new ones apparently.

I found a call on my cell phone from this number. Did not know they called until now but don't know this number anyway and I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. I don't belong to any Readers Club, if this is indeed the number of one, and will not fall for any scam of theirs.

I picked up the call. Turns out they are associated with the magazine scam circle. If you have ever fallen victim to one of them (that was me three/four years ago), they will circulate your information to "other" companies and try to get you to renew. This time they stated that I am on their automatic renewal for the next five years unless I explicitly state I do not want a renewal. Then they ask you to "confirm" your address, credit card number, last four digits of social...yeah. *click* Just don't bother. In the past, I ignored other "companies" that tried to get me to renew. So this one should be no different.

My subscription from the ordeal three/four years ago is coming to an end, so I sent out emails to all the associated magazine publishers to not renew my order ESPECIALLY if it was requested by an external source. Often times the publishers will just direct you right back to the scam circle for "billing inquiries." What a headache.

I received a call from 475-422-7112 earlier today.  The caller "Becky" was calling to confirm my magazines were arriving on time and in good condition.  Almost five years ago I fell for the "scam."  It took me almost three years (and $$hundreds) to finally get it stopped--so I thought.  The original sale was two school kids, door-to-door, fund raising for a school club trip.  I filled out the paperwork and a call from "Reader's Services of America" to make payment.  I chose my credit card.  The original signup was for five magazines for $4.99 a month, each.  Apparently, that was the first month trial.  I started getting charged $69.99 a month for the next couple of years.  All said, the contract was for 60 months for $1,400.00.  I didn't pay that, but it did cost me hundreds before I found out about the whole scam.

Once I found out about the scam (about six months into the ordeal) I tried to cancel.  I called the number on the credit card statement and end up talking to everyone that couldn't do anything because I was under contract and had to pay.  I made many threats about going to the Better Business Bureau and even said I had a lawyer.  After making payments for almost three years my credit card expired.  I cut up the replacement card and called the credit card company and reported it lost or stolen from the mail.  I received a new card (different number) and was informed that I needed to informed all of the new number.

I thought I was finally done with the company.  They call me and said I was being sent to the credit collectors, but I had an option to buy out the rest of the contract at a one-time discount price.  Wanting it to be complete, I paid around $400 to them to finalize it.  That was with Readers Services of America.  Since then I have received calls from America's Choice Reader Service, American Preferred Readers Service, Americans Readers Service, and the latest, America's Reader Service (475-422-7112).  They all have had that original credit card number on file, and they all have had the list of magazines and my address.

I've been scammed before and in the process of trying to rid of these magazines that I dont even read about. But I know I have bad credit because of these people and just want it to end anyone got any information or updates? I got a call yesterday on 1/15/2014 and they are trying to milk me even more for $44.50 for 30 months and they gave me the bullcrap you on the renewal already when I clearly didnt want it.

They call and request your personal information, including your card numbers to "verify that they have the correct information to cancel". Bull, I never ordered any magazines to begin with. They have been calling me for months from several different numbers, this is just the newest number. Please don't fall for this! NEVER give your personal information to anyone on the phone like this.

My son also fell for this scam about 3 years ago . . . in an effort to stop the pain he made a single "final" payment, but there is no way to stop the magazines, so every month they go right from the mailbox to the re-cycle bin.  Right before Christmas I happened to over hear him getting ready to give his credit card number again, but was I was able to intervene before he finished.  He was told that the money he had already paid was only for the first half of a 60 month agreement.  I took the phone and asked what else he could possible owe after paying $1,700!!!!!!!!  I was informed that the company didn't even have a plan for that much money, so I requested information be mailed to us . . . still waiting.  Since then, my son has received 3 other calls, and has on all 3 occasions made it very clear that he was cancelling his "membership" and never wanted any more magazines from them.  Each time he was told that his account was closed and that his name was removed from their data base.  Guess who called this morning!!!!

Is it worth calling the BBB?  Can they do anything to help?

Am receiving about 1 call a week from this number asking me about my magazine service. They have an incredibly old address of mine on file from almost 10 years ago. I've never had a magazine service so I don't know how they received my information. I asked them to take me off their calling list and the guy said that in order for him to do that he needed to "verify" my address, phone number, social security number and credit card information. I have now said no between 6-7 times. I have tried to file a complaint with BBB but because I don't have an address for them, I can't. It's seriously ticking me off.

I just received a call from this number. I was out of the room and my son answered my cell phone. It is another one of those magazine companies trying to sell you magazines.  They send you mags then call you to see if you are getting them. If you tell them yes they try and tell you that they need your cc number to verify that they have the right person. I am not sure how these ppl are getting the last 4 numbers on your cc, but they do have them.
I received a call last Sat morning from Coast to Coast renewal saying the same thing. That number is 406-838-5003.

Also, I told both callers that I do not receive magazines, hoping they will stop sending them and calling. I can't get it through their heads that I am not being billed for the magazines. Most ppl give the whole number for verification. At that point they start billing them $59. or more peer month. Ppl need to know that they should call the cc company, explain the problem and have the card cancelled and a new one issued. It is the only way to protect your credit. Also report it to the DNC list. If enough ppl do this the government should stop them.

I just received a call from this number, same story- calling to see if I am getting my magazines okay.  When I asked which magazines they were referring to, they stated that for privacy purposes, they could not tell me this until I verified information.  Then the caller mentioned that the magazines were on auto-renewal and that if I wanted to stop that I needed to verify my information.  I went so far as to verify my address, then he asked me to verify my age, and then I knew for sure that they were fishing for information, and realized that I know darn well which magazines I get and that none are on any kind of auto-renewal, so I ended the conversation.  Definitely they are up to something nefarious, and they were extremely vague about who they were representing.  If you are on the do not call registry, report them, I did!

I too was one that fell to this type of scam.  Paid out the a$$ to get them to stop service, but that just meant my number has been pimped out to all of the other groups.  Now when they call, I will either politely tell them that I should not be receiving any magazines or just screw with them a little by using loud noises on the call, acting like I'm someone else, or something else like that.

I've been having problems for years with these people,  and I get about a dozen magazines a month.   But I always tell them I didn't order and am not paying for them, and hang up.  The first time I fell for the call where you try to cancel but they trick you into saying the opposite,  then charge your credit card.   I called the number on the card and told them to take it off, then called my credit card co. and got a new card.  I'm still getting tons of magazines and I'm still not paying and no threats from them.   You just have to sound firm but not angry.   (Like you know your rights! )  I am going to report to attorney General.

I got scammed into the magazine thing (so ashamed of allowing that to happen in the first place) by a company called reading America...I actually have the original paperwork they sent in the mail 3 years ago..I paid damn near 800 for this crap and thought I was done with them... Even spoke to a very nice guy who didn't harass me and promised to get me off the call list ... I hadn't received a call in 2 years until about a month ago a woman calls me from this number stating that my renewal was coming up and  I told her no thank you...she then sent me to a "manager" who tried to convince me that I still owed 30 more months of $49.95... Mind you I haven't paid anything to them since 2012 when that guy called...she then tries to tell me that so,e people take time off from payments and that is actually what I did... Umm no not true, so I told her to send me the original contract and that I wouldn't pay a single dime until I had it... Needless to say I haven't gotten it in the mail... But like I said I have the original order stating that I will only pay 24.99 for 24 months and nothing else for the remainder of the service (some of the mags are for 5 years).... Fortunately my credit card info has changed since the last time I paid so they can't charge me without me knowing :).... Oh and the address for reading America is P.O box 501535 Atlanta fa 30350

They ring and when you answer the phone no one answers ,it says mail box is full.

They call every half hour finally got mad and picked up the call no one there

Gay scammer Mike Lillibridge of JCS Enterprises may be involved in this scam. He sells personal information of people he gathers from giveaways at events, and he is involved with many gay magazine and other porn. It would be no surprise therefore to believe he'd be mixed up in this magazine scam.
