- AnoidaRec'd 2 calls in past week. 1 robo call, 1 live person. Unwanted, not requested solicitation re Medicare insurance. Am on federal "do not call list." Very unhappy that this company is hiding under "nonprofit" umbrella to avoid the do not call law.

- MildredGot a call this afternoon. The lady said her name was Carol and then forgot who she worked for. I told her to take my phone number off her calling list. Let's hope this works. These calls continue and there doesn't seem to be any way to stop them. I'm running out of my allotment of blocked calls because they just use another phone number to harass us.

- Terry in Phoenix| 1 replyHow is it that the damned NSA can monitor every communication in the world including our private ones without a warrant but the damned government can't stop these telephone scammers? Spying on us is more important than serving and protecting.

- Gunnar replies to Terry in PhoenixOur government expects you to be able to deal with issues that amount to nothing. Aren't you up to the challenge?
Do you think you're worth paying attention to? Our government only knows that you exist because you're expected to pay your taxes. Do you?
Frauds & scammers are nothing. Do you get angry at the mosquitoes every year? If you do, I guess that must be the NSA's fault too.
I'm not happy about the foreign scammers. They anger me. Immensely. Get a grip.

- TelcoITmanI find some of the remarks posted about these ‘faux telemarketer calls’ amusing. I put together a software program that has logged over 380 of these annoyance calls since 2012. Those of you that let the calls roll to your answering machine, voicemail or worse yet answered the call you have just ensured you will get another of these calls. Maybe not from the same number, but they’ve just identified your number as valid and passed it on. Most of the initial calls originate from software (aka; ‘robocalls’) – once your number is identified as active, then a person may be there on the follow up calls. If you have the capability to ‘block’ the number that called – that is the best action. If you don’t have a blocking option, keep a phone with caller ID close by and simply hit ‘talk’ and ‘off’ simultaneously. If you really want to block them – there is reasonably priced software that a layman can install. Of the 380 calls I’ve blocked, only 16 have been in the last 6 months. So the message is simple – blocking works….
