I got a fake personal money order for 'wells fargo bank' with this phone number on it - I confirmed with wells Fargo that it's a forged check.

I also got a cashier's check from Wells Frago Bank, Newark, CA with the phone # 480-394-23122 on it.

ha ha got a phony check also lots of laughs they spent money mailing it out

I did not receive call from this number, I was given thins number by a Wells Fargo Customer Service Rep and told to call it and give my account number and SSN to check on a cashier's check that was ordered through a VALID request by me. Why was I given this number and told to give my account info? I DID not call it and give out any info - I did a search on the number FIRST! I am very upset with Wells Fargo

May 21st I also, received a check from Wells Fargo(supposedly) with the same phone number as you have typed.   Interestingly enough.  I was due a check from Wells Farrgo and did receive that check about the same day.  I am going to take it into Wells Fargo fand explain the coincidence.  Perhaps it is an inside job?
Did anyone else receive a ligimate check about the same time?

You need to reorrt to Wells Fargo the unreliable , uninformed and perhaps, just plain lazy customer service representative. that told you to to call that number.

I got a $16,000 check today knowing that it might be fraud and is for sure.It was for a large piece of equipment.I just emailed him back saying that we've recieved the check and will be loading the machine on a semi this afternoon and that it should arrive in Texas by Monday,hahaha.My turn to screw with him.Lol.Anyway you should always expect the worst and let your REAL banks fraud department check it out.This guys name is Chibuzo phone #281-748-2252 His address is a company he calles Flonex LTD,2600 Westhollow Dr #1721,Houston,TX.77082.The ship to address is Micec Motors,7927 Cook Rd.Houston TX.77072.Feel free to mess with him.If you know any cops,tell them.

That number is not a fraudulent number. It is an automated number that verifies Money Orders, Official Checks, and Cashier's Checks issued through Wells Fargo's main account. If after you get your verification you still want to speak to a rep, you can stay on the line and a real Wells Fargo employee comes on the phone. I work in the Fraud Dept for a Financial Institution and we utilize this number for check verification regularly.

An individual tried to purchase something from via craigslist. I told the guy that I only accept cash and he showed up with a wells fargo money order. This # was on it and I refused the money order. I am glad I did as I come home to google this # and I find this out. The funny thing is I think the person is honest so I am perplexed.

Similar experience. Guy on Craigslist didn't even want to see the car or try to negotiate the price in his favor. Just wanted to have it right away. I told him I knew that it was a fake and that I know that if I cash it, that it will bounce later. He did not want to drop the act. What a waste of time. It made me a bit anxious.

This is a legitimate number. I work for a different bank and call this number pretty regularly to check the validity of the items. That is not to say that the item you received it legit.  Fraudsters are pretty smart now a days and will give you real bank numbers to throw you off.  I just happened to be searching for this number online and saw this board.  So it's a real number but if you question your item you can check with the bank listed on the check.  Wells Fargo checks have an address on the bottom left. Search that addy on Wells Fargo. com and they can validate issuance.  Also, if you bank at another financial instituation, most banks will be happy to assist you by calling themselves if you question it.
